I received an application for a credit card from Cross Country Bank I decided to give it a try. Up until then I only had one Visa card issue from my bank so I thought it would be good if I got another one. I sent in the application and the money to get the card. I got the card and my credit limit was $250.
I found out that my card was charged additional fees and by the time I got the card I had a bill of $180.00 already charged on the account. I didn't complain instead I sent them another payment to eliminate the balance and free up the available credit.

January 2002, I got my card in the mail. I happened to call in to CCB with a question and I was told that my first payment was due on February 8, 2002. Again I didn't complain I logged online and paid $125 payment. (More than the minimum payment due)

I made plans to go to New York City for my birthday. I decided for security reasons that it would be easier to carry my credit cards instead of carrying large sums of cash. I once again got online and paid another payment of $225.00. After I made the payment I used the card within 24 hours.

On the day that I was planning to leave to go to New York I decided to stop and get some gas. I pulled out the CCB credit card and was told that the card was declined. I was pissed and shocked because the $225.00 payment cleared my checking account.

I was told that CCB had placed a twelve day hold on my account. I had to provide proof from my bank. I told the representative from CCB that the bank was closed. Her name was Cathy. She told me that I had fax a copy of my bankstatement or fax a copy of the cancelled check.

I explained to Cathy, the respresentative, that my bank sends out a bank statement only once a month. As far as cancelled check is concerned it is debit electronically. CCB has never sent a check to my bank. It is an ACH debit. She told me that was my problem but those are the rules. I was pissed. I hung up with Cathy and contacted my bank. Luckly my bank can send me a fax copy of the last 30 transactions on my account via phone request.

I had to drive 30 miles back to Washington DC to my job to get a fax from my bank. I called CCB again and this time I talked to a guy. He stayed on the line while I faxed the transmission. After he got it he released the available credit to me. Of course I had to pay to call them and pay to fax them the bank statment.

Needless to say I was late getting to NYC and had to secure my hotel reservations on another credit card.
While in NYC I decided to use the card again for gas. The attendant told me that the card was declined. Once again I was pissed. I had to use yet another credit card to get some gas to get back to my hotel.

Once I got back to my hotel I called CCB on my calling card and was told that a hold was placed back on my account. I asked her why and she told me that she didn't know what happened and she would release the money immediately.

Once I got back home from my vacation I called CCB to complain about the entire process and to complain about the fact that I had never received a bill from this company.

At this time I had sent CCB three payments. All of which using the online information. I even wrote them a letter explaining my complaints.

I called repeatedly telling them that I never got a bill from this company. I have been trying reconcile my bill and the only source available was the online information. I was charged an over the limit fee because of false information on the internet. I was told that the online information is updated every morning at 8:00 am.

I woke up on Saturday Morning and checked the online information. It read that I had an available balance of $115. I decided to take a cash advance of $100 and make a small purchase of $3.45 and $5.00. I made sure that I wasn't over the limit. I checked the balance on the following Monday morning to find out I was over the limit.

When I called CCB I was told that I had to write a complaint to Boca Routon. Then the representative told me that it was my responsibility to keep up with my account. She then proceeded to tell me that CCB was doing me a favor by giving me a loan. The tone in which she used was like I should bow down and kiss the feet of CCB for giving me a $250 credit card. I was offended and I told the representative that I don't need this card.

I have a visa from my bank. I explained to her that I recently purchased a brand new car off the showroom floor. I also live in a house that is almost paid for in full. I don't need this $250 credit card. It provides a credit score on the credit report. No more No less.

I then proceeded to make my payments accordingly and using the online information. I was told that I should receive my bill in the mail.

March 2002, I didn't get my bill however, I made my payment online like normal. I called CCB again and was told to verify my address. I verified the information once again. Needless to say they ask you to verify your address and phone number each and everytime you call in to talk about your account.

I was told that bill was returned to them and I needed to send them a copy of another bill so they can see how other companies send bills to my address. I sent the information to them and along with a complaint letter. I still have not received a bill.
March 15, 2002, I called CCB because I was once again charged an over the limit fee.

I called CCB and was told that the finance charge put me over the limit. I told her that I have never received a bill and therefor I shouldn't be charged. I can't see the finance charges online. She told me that I had to write the complaint department. I asked for a supervisor.

The supervisor got on the phone and tole me that it was responsibility to keep up with my purchases. I told her that I never received a bill she told me that I needed to contact my postmaster. I was angry and I told her that I didn't have a problem with any other company. I get my bank statments, phone bills, car statements and other mail from various companies consistently and on time. Why is it so hard for CCB to send the statements.

The representative, Misty, told me that there was nothing else she can do for me. I asked to speak with her boss. She refused to give me that information or let me speak with someone else. I even asked her if I went to main office in Wilmington would I be able to speak with a live person. She told me that nobody would meet with me.

I had to write another letter. I refused. She told me that I should consider the company if I am dissatisfied. At that point I told her I wanted to close my account. As of March 15 I no longer wanted to be a customer.

I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and I plan to make the public aware of CCB practices and procedures. I then found this website and wanted to add my story so other custormers would see it before they apply for CCB.
