After purchasing a 1998 Toyota 4-runner with a trade in, the dealer called me back and told me that I had to resign the paperwork because Toyota Financial was taking on the loan. The rate incresed to 13.75% and payment increased from $450.00 to $540.00.

Oh, they threw in all sorts of warranties to say the car was covered from head to toe for 100k miles, but that added over $4k to the loan. Watch out for Joe Vickers, the finance manager with the magic pen. They wait until you are so happy with your car and then call you back in to take advantage of you.

What happened to you was a spot delivery.

The dealer knew what you qualified for. They did this to make more money. Adding on of extra options is payment packing. You could of returned the car and take the dealer to court and sue them for your down payment or deposit back. The contract was dead when they could not find financing under the old contract. Next time AVOID dealership financing and go to bank or credit union. Next time if you go to a dealership with a check, it will be harder to rip you off. The ugliest surprises are always in the F&I office.
