I have had the same problems with Crums Climate Control. In December of 2005 I had Crums install a new ac/heat system in my home.

At first everything seemed fine, As April and May of 2006 came around it became obvious that the system could not cool my home.

If it was 90 outside the house would get no cooler than 84 inside and there was considerable condinsation on the airhandler and mold growing on top of that.

I called Crums, They sent a repair man to the house he checked the compressor and stated that it was working correctly and left.

About 1 week later I called Crums and let them know that the situation had not changed. They sent another person out the check things out.

After looking things over the rep from Crums stated one of the reasons the AC could not cool my home was the old steel casement windows on my home and that my refrigator was to close to the themostat.

I replaced the windows in my home with double glass argon filled windows , added insulation in areas of the house. here is a little side note, when Home Depot pulled the permit to install the new windows, they informed me that Crums had never called the inspector to inspect thier work and the permit had expired.

the ac still could not keep up. I called crums again. When they came out this time they informed me that the duct work they installed was to small and they would have to replace it, And also that the air return hose was restricted due to a tight space in the attic.

Crums sent out 2 installers to my home, and they installed larger duct work to the vents in the house.

when they finished the work the installers informed me that Crums would send someone else to the house to correct the problem with the air return.

two weeks later someone from crums came to my home and removed two 8 inch blocks from an extieror wall. then stated that he could go no further cause he had removed the block to the truss that supported the roof and could go no farther.

He stated that Crums would contact me about the situation. I waited about a week, then i called and made an appt for someone to come to the house they never came and never called.

I hounded crums for 3 months and they did nothing..

to date I still have the hold in my wall that i have had to use duct tape to keep the weather out. drill holes in my ceiling where the installers drilled.

another hole in a wall that is about 3 inches deep and so large my finger fits in it. and an opening in my ceiling 28 inch by 28 inch where they gained access to my attic then took a scrap piece of drywall to cover the hole not to mention all the cracks in my plaster ceiling where the 2nd installers droped thier tools.

I would not recomend crums to anyone.

update 2011

AUTHOR: Walter - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, March 02, 2011

Another update as promised..

Crums climate control finally had a inspection done from the worked they had performed. Not only did it FAIL county inspection, the building inspector pointed out where crums climate control had cut and removed 7 "seven" trusses from my roof..the county informed crums climate control to fix the unsafe issues they had created in my home within 1 month...Crums climate control did nothing..

After a building inspector informed me that crums climate control had damaged the structural stability of my home I hired a structural engineer to perform an inspection... "this cost me $500.00 of my own money" the engineer agreed with the county inspector and was able to point out to me where my roof was sagging and had moved due to a lack of support caused by the 7 trusses being cut and removed.. I then spent more time "haggling" with crums climate control to repair the issues they had created... NOTHING WAS DONE.... I then took my engineer report to central florida BBB..

AT that time crums climate control WAS a member of BBB with an A+ rating.. If I am correct the BBB lowered there rating to an A- and gave them 1 month to make repairs, they did not so the BBB they lowered there raiting to an F.. the BBB gave them more time, and because the repairs made to my home were so horrendous the BBB revoked there membership and the local ABC television station droped all advertising from this company due to there BBB standing..

save yourself time and money do not hire Crums Climate Control.. and another note there is a new ac company in town "orlando, daytona beach" area called "certified climate control" it is run by the same people that worked for "crums climate control" stay far away ...

Crums came to the house to fix the wall

AUTHOR: Walter - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, August 16, 2007

Great news, Crums came to my home to replace the 2 blocks they left out of my exterior wall 1 year ago. 1 problem down 3 to go. (1) the expired building permit crums pulled in january of 2006, for the install of my ac system . (2) the 23 degree temperature variation between the air return and supply. (3) the fact that the AC will NOT cool the house to 80 degrees inside when it is 92 outside. when Crums installers were here last week to replace the block they witnessed first hand the systems inability to cool my home.

I have to say that while the staff at Crums is ALWAYS polite and courteous. you can leave messages till you are blue in the face. they dont do anything about it.( Greg the GM) mentioned that he had never heard of my problems, that is sad to hear, acording to your staff, my issues have been mentioned several times in your daily morning meetings.

a crums heating and cooling update

AUTHOR: Walter - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, July 17, 2007

on July 17th Crums sent a tech to my home "as they said they would" to check out my system.
he noticed there was a 23 or 25 degree differance in temp from intake to output and also checked the compressor for proper operation.
the compressor is fine , however he admitted that there was a restriction on the airflow.
he stated that he would go back to "the office" discuss the problem with the manager and they would call me to tell me when they could re-install the duct work and make repairs to my walls and ceiling.

i will let you know what happens

No return phone call

AUTHOR: Walter - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, July 10, 2007

on july 9 2007 i called crums at 3:15 pm and spoke with Arlo, again reminding them of the hole left in my exterior wall of my home and the restricted air return, Arlo took my phone number and stated that someone would call me on july 10th. That call never happened.
