One day at the Car Free NYC days I was given a flyer for a free 5 day Crunch gym access. The flyer didn't have any restrictions printed, except the expiration date (a month or two from now). The same day I came to the gym with my friends. The lady on the reception said we can not use these flyers after 9pm for some reason. We talked to the manager for a couple minutes asking him to come in. Since we were with two girls - and he was very nice with them - they let us in.
We started the work out and 10 mins later the manager and some other guy who works there came up to me and said that I have to leave the gym or pay $30 if I want to stay. The reason was that I already was at the gym before (a 4-5 months ago I came to check it out and used one day free trial - didn't like it and switched to Blink - right across the street).
I had to leave my friends at the gym and go wait for them downstairs (I didn't even had a credit card with me to pay these $30 - and anyways I wouldn't). When my friends were done and we were leaving the gym - I asked for our free passes back - so that they will let the girls in the next day and I could possibly give my pass to someone else, because I didn't use it myself. The guy said no and when I asked him "Why?" - he became very rude and told me to "fu** out of the gym or he will call police" and started dialing numbers on the phone.
I wrote a complaint on a regular paper, signed it and left all my info. Since nobody else was at the gym, I think the guy just threw away the complaint - because noone called me back the next day or anytime later.

First of all - their advertising materials - are a ripoff. The flyer didn't have any restrictions on time of attendance and any restrictions on who can visit the gym (apparently nice girls have a higher chance to get a good deal). Or maybe the guy didn't like the fact that I am international and speak with a slight accent.. IDK. Also, these guys said that we can not use the flyer if we do not live around here - luckily we all live next block (if not, they would probably tell us to leave, cause they wouldn't be able to sell us any memberships). Secondly, the stuff is not friendly, and always tries to sell you something (if you would come in one day and ask them where is the nearest pharmacy - they would definitely try to sell you a yearly membership).
