I only get 45 minutes for my lunch break and I know how busy Cugini's is during the lunch hour. I called ahead and ordered the food for my husband and I to eat.
He drove all the way from Virginia Beach to eat lunch with me. Once our lunch was finished, it had begun raining outside, so we decided to sit in the restaurant and eat.

After eating a couple bites of our pizza, a waiter came up to us and asked us to leave because the seats were for "customers" only. I asked him what he thought we were? We just paid $11.00 to eat THEIR food that THEY cooked.

I could understand if they had a line out the door and there were no seats left in the restaurant, but there were PLENTY of seats in the restaurant. So, after a half eaten pizza, my husband and I got up and went out to our car and finished our lunch there.

This episode REALLY upset me, so I called later on in tte day to speak with the manager and he agreed with what his waiter did and then hung up the phone on me.

I have spread the word to everyone I know about this and feel paying customers should not be treated like this. I will NEVER visit this restaurant again and would advise others to do the same.

The poster ordered food TO GO

AUTHOR: Robert - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, November 10, 2005

If she and her husband wanted to eat in, they should have CHANGED the order to one for inside dining and that would have been the end of it.

All restaurants, including McDonalds do this. If you order the food to go, there would be no "eat-in" fee. I remember ordering to go as a teenager and then sitting in a booth out of view. I saved a bunch of money this way.

The waitstaff, including bussers, have to clean the tables, chairs, and floor when someone leaves. If the person eating at the table puts zero money in the pocket of the waitress, she is no working for free. I realize most people have no problem making OTHER people work for free, but how many of you will do it? Well Kristi? Will you do your job for free? If not, you are a hypocrite.

You made someone else do theirs for nothing in return. And in return, you are the one claiming RIPOFF.

Begging for dollars

AUTHOR: Gregg - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, November 09, 2005

Let me get this right. They are rude to and run off PAYING CUSTOMERS in order to keep their tables free for a certain class of customer? They do this in oreder to maximize the opportunity of their under-paid wait staff to coerce tips out of the customers?

They don't have the decency to erect a discrete sign, as previously suggested, to explain this to take-out customers?

THE SOUP n**i LIVES!

There's a simple solution people, vote with your dollars!

#2 UPDATE EX-employee responds

objective point of veiw past employee

AUTHOR: R - (U.S.A.)

While the situation left a bad taste in kristis mouth for the restaurant as a whole (glenn smith), I can understand if I were in that particular situation I am positive I would feel the same way if I didnt know the reasoning behind the policy they have.
the main reason is for the waitstaff to have the ability to have every table open to make their money because if you've ever been there you know its not a very big establishment. But the honest truth is that the management (while I was employed there) would prefer to handle it in a lesser of two evils kind of way im sure you would rather hear that the tables are for dine in "full service guests only" than a "hey you, yeah the person who just sat down and made me waste my money on your carry out containers and took up seating space that my $2.15 dollar an hour waitress couldnt use for tipping customers" kinda thing.
Truth be known while I worked there I came across some of the most ignorant people. These people would come in order food to go because they were to broke to tip a waitress and would order their food to go sit down make a complete mess and not leave a dime for the waitress/waiter so you really need to put on someone elses shoes and walk in them for a minute before you go slandering someones buisness.
As a side note you really wont find better pizza anywhere in that area at all. The owners take pride in their establishment and pay their bills with it so they want to make sure you get the best quality for the best price.
hey claude, save yourself the endless haggle and spend 5 bucks to get a sign that states "seating for dine in customers only" so you wouldnt have to deal with it again.

The real reason myself or anyone at the restaurant meant to offend you.

AUTHOR: Jasmine - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, April 17, 2005

I am a current employee at cugini's pizza and pasta, I was probably the one who told you to leave. I think you should first know that I was only doing MY JOB! The reason why you were told to leave, is so that our waitress will get her tips, this is not a chain restaurant so we have to do things a little differently. If I had the chance I would have just told you for future reference, when you are eating here we must have our waitress serve you. I really did mean to upset you, but I was told that if anyone orders there food to go, they must eat it to go. I know that myself or anyone at the restaurant meant to offend you.
