Culligan's Reverse Osmosis system was previously installed in a home I bought a couple of years ago. We chose not to continue with that system and chose Crystal Water instead. After a while I noticed water running into the basement drain. I traced the source to the Culligan tubes; therefore, I called Culligan to stop the leak. The rep they sent out asked why I chose Crystal. I said cost. He said I could save money by changing the components myself. The store was not far from me and installation was not hard. At no time did he mention needing to prime the tank, or have a bicycle pump or calibration tool.

I decided to try. When I bought the supplies for just under $100.00, no mention was made of needing to prime the tank, just draing it twice to remove the carbon. When I tried to install the parts, I called and asked for assistance. The technician called and said I would need to prime or pump the tank within certain limits in order to assure adequate flow from the tank. He said that was part of a normal service call, which he would be happy to set up for an additional charge. When I said nobody explained that to me, before I bought the supplies, or I never would have agreed to do so, he said "Sorry, but that was the way it was."

So, now I have spent around $100 for something that doesn't and won't work properly, plus I'll have to pay someone to disconnect the Culligan from my refrigerator's ice machine.
