Curves for Women unauthorized withdrawals w/o contact Internet

There seems to be a pattern of problems with Curves gym for women. I decided to sign up with Curves for exercise following physical therapy for a hip replacement. My physical therapist approved this idea.

It was nearby, and I was 59 yrs, and way overweight. I went for the 1 month trial in February 2009, then signed a year contract in March. I also returned to work in March 2009. I was very stressed and tired from work when I would go for my workout after work.

The staff is overweight, out of shape, and there is an elderly woman 67 yrs., old. What I did not like was this older woman gossiping and telling other people about the other clients. One day, after going for 1 year, the staff said _____ looks tired, and is moving slow. I felt so bad, because I was already stressed from work, that I did not go back. The 1 year
contract would be up in one month, so I just stopped going. I thought they would not renew me.

Meanwhile 20 months pass. I look closely at my bank statement and see check 44.00. I call the bank and find it is Curves for Women. I was livid. They had been withdrawing from my bank account all this time to the tune of $880. What I dont like is that they never called to see how I was, or to tell me that they were still deducting money. And, it is deceptive,
because it just says check no check number of name of business. I called Curves, and they told me I had to come in to sign a cancellation form.

I went in at 7:00 a.m. on the next day, a Saturday. I asked why they didnt call me.she said would you have come in it I did? I just told them it was bad business, and they should have called me. Once, when I was there for a workout, I overheard the older woman call someone to see how they were doing, so I figured they would do that for me.

I found the contract, and sure enough it says you have to come in to sign the cancellation form. They are sneaky and discriminating for not calling me. I always wondered how they stayed open, because there are never more than 3-4 people there at a time.

The hours are terrible. They are Mon.-Fri. 7 a.m.-12 p.m. Then 3:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. Sat. 7 a.m.-10:00 a.m., Closed Sunday.

Im just venting and ranting. Since I am bound by the deceptive contract, I have no recourse. Just a heads up, watch out for this racket. I dont know how some people can sleep at night.
