Da Tub Doctor - Tom Abe Da Tub Doctor - Tom Abe - Total Rip Off !!! Kaneohe Hawaii

Da Tub Doctor / Tom Abe painted our tube and it peeled 6 days later... So he fixed it but it peeled again 5 days later! He won't refund our money. Da Tub Doctor came to our condo on 8-12-13 to re-glaze our bathtub. We were instructed not to use the tub for 24 hours after installation, but we waited 36 hours just to be sure. The tub started to peel after only 6 days! We contacted Abe (the owner/installer) and he came out a few days later to assess the situation. He decided to tape off the damaged section which was now about 11" in diameter and re-spray paint over it...

Well, 5 day later it started to peal again, but not only in the newly repainted section, but another area as well. So, I contacted Abe again and he said he would come out again and fix his work... I told him that the the tube was obviously not prepared correctly (sanding etc.) and that's why the paint was pealing off so easily. I told him that this would continue to happen and that we were not at all happy with his work. I asked him to refund our $400.00 and he complied...

Then, after a week, Abe contacted me and said "his attorney said he is not contractually obligated to refund our money." Have some integrity Abe! Your product is supposed to last 7 years! But it peeled in three different sections over a two week period and one of those sections was an area that you repaired once before! I told him I would file a complaint with the BBB and take him to small claims court if he did not refund our money and he said, "go ahead!" The bottom line is Abe doesn't have any idea how to properly prep and install this product and that's why it peels off so easily after only 6 days!

The "product", if that's what you want to call it, was nothing more than a spray paint can that you purchase from City Mill. It is apparent that the "paint", not "glaze" will continue to peel as it never adhered to the bathtub. It would be like painting over oil-base paint with latex paint; it just doesn't stick. It's now been 40 days since the original installation and over 35% of the paint has peeled off. I filed this complaint because people in Hawaii need to be aware that this is nothing short of a $400.00 scam! Save your money, save your time and save yourself a lot of unneeded anger and frustration! Don't do business with Da Tub Doctor / Tom Abe!
