My 2000 Isuzu Rodeo had broke down unexpectedly on April 28th, we questioned whether or not the car was still covered under the service contract. The car was towed to the nearest local mechanic to figure out the reason the car would not switch out of first gear. Upon inspection of the miles on the odometer and the miles covered under the Powertrain service contract, we saw that we made the mileage by 86 miles.

Our first attempt was made on May 2 to get the authorization for repair. The shop representative, Tanya, contacted Daimler-Chrysler to get approvals. She was told that the work was pre-authorized by Steve and she would need to get permission from my husband and me to tear down the transmission to see the cause of the problem. She had received the verbal authorize to do so. About two days later, the problems with the transmission were known and were forwarded to your company. But, the request for a surveyor to access the damage and approve repairs went unanswered. Instead, both she and my husband and I were told that the repairs would not be authorized, because the car was not at a Chrysler or Isuzu dealership.

Telephone tag commenced and we were at a battle to get a SUV fixed, because the damage was still under the Daimler-Chrysler warranty. Tanya, my husband and I were referred to the Isuzu Corporation; because we were told it was covered under the manufacturer warranty. We contacted them and was told the coverage would be under the Service Contract with Daimler. The manufacturer's warranty had expired on the SUV.

A representative at your company, Sherri, said that we needed to take the car to an Isuzu or Chrysler dealership for repair. Moreover, we would have to assume the cost of the transmission being torn down. When I asked for the name of the representative that gave pre-authorization she had refused to give me any information. I asked to speak to a supervisor and was told that she was in fact the supervisor. I asked for someone above herself and was told that I could not speak with any one else regarding this issue. I was at wits end and did not know what to do. We were all being tossed around from department to department, department to corporation, etc. because of the poor customer service at your company.

Finally, we were patched through to the correct department that promptly addressed the issue, reaffirmed the fact that we were given incorrect information and authorized the repairs. But, by this time the car was in the shop for 8 days and had not be serviced at all. In addition, I had been driving in a rental that is only covered for 5 days under this service contract. A repair that should have been surveyed, authorized, and repaired in one week was now going into its second week. The car repair started on May 6th and was finished on the 10th.
