Well let's see...so I worked at Dance of the Sun. In April of 2008, I decided to give my notice. But, everything has a background story.

While working there, I encountered an owner that tried to rip you off by not paying you gas mileage when running errands for the spa, would talk smack about all of her employees, crazy enough including the manager's inability to perform basic math skills, and would take away commisioned clients claiming they had requested her to do there services.

This is a small taste of what I got to experience here. It is not the worst job I have ever had, but by far the most mentally and emotionally exhausting. An owner that constantly tearing down her own family (yes, personal issues at work...she claimed we were her "friends" to confide in...thanks Dawn!!) to the point she informed me that if her eldes daughter wasn't so fat and whiny she'd probly stop feeling so sick.

None the less, and to take it in a less personal direction....while I was there I did an apprenticeship....one where almost EVERY law we were supposed to follow was broken....and then she proceded to try and take money out of my check for breaking our contract!!! (because I was supposed to work there for a while, and she was crazy at work so I couldn't).

Long story short, the owner called me ( 2 1/2 weeks into my month of notice) and informed me not to come back to work, ever, because it was a conflict of interest (that's what she told customer's ) She told me, it was because she didn't know what I was saying to them when she wasn't around. I know how it sounds, cause you don't know me...but I didn't say anything but good things about them. Only, because I still needed her good graces to get another job....

After leaving me penny less, and almost missing my brothers graduation, the dillusional heffer tried to make me give her money. I hope you never experience a job like this, cause I can tell you it hurts you were the sun doesn't shine!!

Not on either side

AUTHOR: Anonymous - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, October 15, 2008

I had frequented this business in the past, but decided to move on due to a few unpleasantries during my visits. Although the clients are treated well by most employees, there were a few who made the atmosphere feel suffocating and there was definite tension in the air.

The ex-employee of this business always provided clients with a nice hello and a smile, even though I did not use their services. If there were problems with the employer and employee, it did not show whatsoever.

From what I have read through the previous comments, it seems to be that this website is designed for reasons such as this, and the ex-employee had every right to tell their side of the story. The spa patrons have the right to their comments just as much as the ex-employee does, but I do feel sorry for the current employee who felt the need to sink so low as to make a comment. Just let it go.

To all concerned parties:
When I wrote this I was angry and extremely upset. I regret writing anything I said that may have caused hurt feelings...I never thought anyone would know this existed. I found a small website that would allow me to get out my feelings and leave it at that...ah but what a small world we live in. I do however find it to be hard not to clear some things up. Yes, it was a mistake on my part to be expecting my last check....depending on it I suppose. But, I would like to make it clear that an employee had given a MONTH of notice not even six months before this and was never asked to leave early. I understand that maybe this is because they were not going on to practice. However, I also know since then that other employees that have departed from this business have been asked to stay LONGER than they requested to. That contradicts what has been said in the rebuttle....I felt at the time that this was very personal and nothing stated has changed my mind. I'm very sorry for the way things ended up, I was very hurt over the entire incident and felt extremely misstreated. I have never said this is a bad business, just that they had bad business practices. It is a wonderful spa and clients are treated very well. I apologize if my intention was miss interpreted.

Misuse of this service

AUTHOR: Spa Patron - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, August 15, 2008

-When I came across this report, I was astounded to find that a former employee would air her personal experience on a website/service designed to warn consumers about unprofessional businesses. Whether or not all the above hearsay is true or on person's sour feelings when things didn't go the way she wanted, is irrelevent to whether or not clients receive quality service at the spa. It is common that when staff give notice, it is rarely a positive experience for anyone involved. In the case of a commission-based business that relies upon building a client base, working more than 2 weeks beyond giving intention to leave can be a conflict of interest for the business. This is especially true if there is a concern about confidentiality and maintaining trade secrets. In my experience in the working world, I have never known an incidence when more than 2 weeks was necessary or even beneficial to either party. And working in management in the past, I have felt comfortable telling employees that although I appreciate the thoughtfulness of giving a month's notice, it is in everyone's best interest to work just 2 weeks out.

-As far as leaving the author of the report pennyless and unable to visit family because she was counting on a paycheck that didn't come, that is certainly not the fault of the business but more a result of poor financial planning on her part.

-Of all of the other topics mentioned in the report or rebuttals, the only relevant thing to mention is that every business encounters a poor match in employee/employer relationships occasionally. Lifestyle differences, personality and values all play a part in building professional relationships. The relationship is only as good as what both parties are willing to contribute. Regardless, this is a consumer based service and the even the former client above (who sided with the author of the report) maintains that she got quality service when she visited the spa. That is essentially what a business seeks to do, provide quality service for profit. This business is doing that and more.

I am a massage client of the employee that filed this report. I can't say that everything she said is true, but I know that she was let go in a way that I felt was unfair. This spa called me to see if I would like to have my appointment with someone else, but did not inform me that they had asked my massage therapist to leave early.

When I met up with my therapist at a later date, I even had to ask her what had happend, and she was still very polite letting me know that I should feel welcome to return to the spa whenever I wished. I have not returned. You can tell a lot about what goes on in a business by how they treat the people that work there. This girl is very pleasant and always made me feel good.

The spa is a wonderfully relaxing place, but they were in the wrong to treat her the way they did. I don't have a problem with this business, and her report may have been in poor taste: I feel though, that it was justified by the way she was treated and I think she should be given some credit as she was always smiling and very happy when I was there, not the negative person you are led to believe. I hope that this experience will benefit the other employees of this spa and that they will be treated better when they decide to "move on".

POSTED: Wednesday, June 25, 2008

As an employee of Dance of the Sun, all I have to say is this:

- The statements made in the above article are inaccurate, mean, and slanderous.

- The author had caused many problems at Dance of the Sun due to her mean, deceitful, harsh personality, and the above article shows exactly how awful of a person she really is.

- Since a certain employee left, the harmony of the spa has improved greatly! We all would like to say "Thank You" for giving your notice!

- I have never, NEVER, worked in an atmosphere as calm, friendly, relaxing and wonderful as Dance of the Sun. The employers are very understanding, and I love the people I work with. How often do you find a job in which you get along, and are friends, with ALL the people you work with?
