Daniel Dupree Dan Dupree Otis B. Easy Scam artist in magazine publishing, reality television and advertising new orleans Louisiana

Daniel Dupree has bounced from Florida to New Orleans LA. and back to the Jacksonville Fla. area. Dupree often sets up small local magazines that are little more than fanzines with crude humor. He does sell cheap ads with promises of thousands of copies to be distributed, usually just a few numbers are actually printed. Just enough to give to advertisors.

Dupree had a pretty good publication going in the French Quarter of New Orleans going with a following of readers. However he burned several regular advertisors of their last payments for advertising by not delivering ANY publication. He had to flee New Orleans after running a large scam, framing his girlfriend for attempted murder (charges dropped) and he also kidnapped their 4 year old daughter and fled to Florida.

Dupree also tried to pass himself off as a reality television producer for TRU TV. This was little more than a scam to get strippers to urinate on him on video. He also had a falling out with the camera man over the ownership of the recorded video. At one point Dupree threatened to return with a gun and get the disputed footage via strong arm. Dupree has a fondness for weapons and plays the street thug, but is mostly talk and he has only been known to actually beat up a 60 year old blind 150 pound blues musician. He will tell you bullshit stories otherwise, however he is often armed and being a coward may be prone to flashing a gun. 

Dupree had to flee New Orleans after scamming a cartoon animator and and investor out of approximately $15,000 invested in a proposed animation project for ADULT SWIM on Cartoon Network. Dupree had made the asserion that he was in close contact with the developemnt department at ADULT SWIM, and they were definately interested in producing the show. A 15 minute trailer was needed to sell the concept to the network. A dozen actors, sound people and musicians were left empty handed when Dupree pocketed the majority of the investment money. After he fled town with his daughter. The investor and artist contacted ADULT SWIM, and they had never heard of Dupree or the project.

After his hasty departure from New Orleans and his scam was made public, nearly a dozen others had come forward describing how they also had been conned out of money for magazine ads, time, talent and money. He often works as a bar tender and has been fired from a number of establishments in the French Quarter. I can not speak for those employers, however rumor has it was because of theft.

Daniel Dupree is currently laying low, believed to be in the Jacksonville Florida area staying with family. He is constantly with his precious young daughter whom the mother is trying to find and regain custody of. Eventually Mr. Dupree will have to find a means of support, he may return to tending bar or possibly starting up another bogus magazine scam.
