Unfortunately for myself and my partner we were on vacation both times (Oct 06 & May 07) when the British consumer program WATCHDOG featured Daniel Edwards of APlus Entertainments and the companys frequent failure to attend bookings.
This meant that like man we were impressed by the companies website, detailed contract and overall offering and despite spending a few hours searching for reviews at the time (April 07) I found none. Taking no news to be good news we booked a disco and clown to attend our daughters 4th Birthday party. Total price 185. Day of the event arrives no entertainer. The following Monday I send via aplus entertainments website a request for a refund. Daniel calls me back, no hint of an actual apology, and assures me if aplus were at fault a full refund would be forthcoming. He said he would email refund forms straightaway. The emails containing the forms were rejected but 2 separate mailing systems as unsafe. I communicate this to aplus but received no response. The phone number is a 0870, charges at 3-7p/min and despite on the 20 occasions I called being #1 in the queue he phone was never answered not even when I held for 30 minutes.
I will hopefully be able to add a happy ending to this report one day but reading about others that have attempted to extract a refund I'm not holding out a lot of hope.
I just hope that with more bad reviews and reports fewer people will fall foul of this individual and his company aplus entertainment
