Davis Direct Marketing, Davis Direct Marketing misleading job description leads to giant waste of time Milwaukee Wisconsin

I worked at DDM earlier in 2008. I went into the interview, which was in a very respectable office building, for an entry level event promotions job. In my first interview, I was told everything a college grad wanted to hear: big pay, little time spent getting it, and room for major advancement. The interview went very smoothly and from the explaination that the manager gave me, it sounded like a company that wanted to promote At and T products around the area, and my job would be to make event promotions advertising the product. It sounded pretty legit, until I went in for round two.

In the round 2 interview, I was told that I was going to see a day in the life of a person that would take my position. I was led into a car with two men I didn't know from Adam, which is terrifying for a woman that weighs only 110 lbs, and they started driving. I asked were we were going, only to stop in a cul de sac in Pewaukee. I thought I was about to be killed, it was so weird and creepy. The two men then told me that we were going to go DOOR-TO-DOOR selling the At and T U-verse package, EVEN THOUGH THE JOB DESCRIPTION BLANTANTLY SAID NO DOOR-TO-DOOR SALES!!!! I was incensed, and then had to go door-to-door with these two guys for over 7 HOURS, hearing the entire way schemes to try to get people to buy the products. It was demeaning, and did I mention its completely paid on commission, including no company reimbursements for travel?

I'm so sick of this companies claiming to be "marketing promotions and advertising group" only to find myself standing outside some old lady's door trying to convince her that her cable package sucks and that she needs to upgrade. I don't know how companies can even get away with claiming to be something then ending up being something else that's totally demeaning and a waste of time. I hope that everyone who reads this thats going into an interview for this company turns around and walk away, so it can go out of business for its lying practices.
