Just to thank all you guys who reported on your experiences with Davison. Lucky for me, I haven't paid a penny yet and, after reading this and other stuff including the class action lawsuit, I will save $600+. All of you guys you "got taken", my advice is: don't feel bad! I am no "spring chicken" and am super educated and experienced, yet I almost fell for this. This goes to show that, no matter your age, level of education, life experience, there's always somebody out there to think of a new way to try to con you. And when you think you've seen it all, like in "been there, done that", you find yourself again surprised by how vulnerable we all are.

Thank God for the Internet. Without it, I might have gone for it, at least the initial $600+ because it did not seem like such a huge sum to invest for the potential I saw in my invention. But, as some of you have confirmed, "when it sounds to beautiful to be true, it usually is". Luckily, I now have gotten into the cautious habit of checking things online where I stumbled on this web site.

I can't call myself a victim yet but it looks like I was a prey about to become one. All you guys described sounds like what I just experienced. Someone called Ron who set up a phone appointment, talked very fast (he supposedly had a next appointment which kept him from being able to talk more and answer my questions), I felt flattered of course that my invention had "passed Davison's initial screening" and excited at the prospect of getting help to "make things happen".

I was not too crazy about having to pay $60 per hour for 11 hours of anticipated research, but thought that under $700 to get my invention implemented and eventually produced and marketed wasn't that big an investment (or even possible loss if things did not work out). Like you all, I'm supposed to receive a packet with information and a contract and have another phone appointment with Ron in a week to supposedly be able to go over the packet and ask questions.

I have a feeling that Ron has no intentions on giving me any real answers because he certainly did not today. I expect he will again have a limited amount of time to talk to me and will speak very fast and will avoid questions and this time will press for me to send the initial "research money".

I got a little suspicious when I asked Ron to provide me with some statistics on how many of their "inventors" got their inventions marketed and what types of royalties they got on the average (a little side spending money vs. enough to "retire"?). He said my invention had nothing to do with what anybody else might or might not have gotten, every case is different and they can't give me such statistics.

I pressed him saying they should be able to give me some general ball park idea without giving me any guarantee or making any actual promises and asked him if they would ever provide with such data. He said, frankly I must admit, that they don't provide such information because it is not relevant to my invention. I don't agree with him of course, because even if each case is different, over time, they should have some general statistics.

In fact, I would imagine that he have been proud and glad to be able to say that such and such percentage of their "inventors" have become millionaires or whatnot. I know I'd be ready to show anyone if I had something really good to offer and could back it up. Why the mystery? And I could not accept that Davison, as a company, would not keep track and have available statistics of their successes and would not be eager to share them with prospects.

Ron briefly said that he'd see what he could find out (probably because I kind of insisted) but he quickly returned to his "being pressed by time because of his next appointment" and that I should look for the packet I would receive from his assistant within the next 2 to 3 days.

Still, I was kind of looking forward to our next phone appointment next week and to receiving the package and was seriously considering investing under $700 to get my invention produced and marketed. I realize now that I did not even think of asking if there would be additional costs and actually thought it was all I would have to spend upfront and thought that Davison would make more money through the 10% royalties he said they would get from the selling of my invention. And I thought that 90% for me was rather generous actually if Davison was going to do pretty much all of the work to get things going.

As I said, except for the actual loss of money you guys experienced, don't any of you feel "naive" or "stupid". Trust me, I really don't consider myself either one of these and yet I was ready to send in my check just because these people seem very good at getting you flattered, excited and make it sound so straight forward.

I'm only grateful that they now have to contend with the Internet where people can get a lot of information very quickly, something which simply was not available just a few years ago.

I sort of smelled a rat and you guys have confirmed my suspicions. And I'm not going to make the mistake of thinking that "my invention" is so special that that things would work out differently for me. I'm sure we all have great ideas and all turned to Davison because we just did not know where to start and reasonably thought that if "such experts" agreed that we had something "good" to offer, they were willing to assist us for relatively small initial research fee just to make sure if they really felt they were going to make some real money eventually, although I did think that 90% for me was rather generous even if I came up with the idea given that they would would do all the work.

My scenario has started out exactly as you guys described and I don't see any reason to believe that it would not continue exactly as you wrote, if I went ahead with it. So, I'll save myself about $700 it would have cost me to find out. And I decided to share my experience to partipate in helping others who are trying to make a decision.

I'm not saying there are no good companies out there in the "invention" business or that people should give up on their dreams. But, we all need to listen to our "guts" and use our "common sense". If I knew I had the resources to make an inventor into a millionnaire, I would be more than willing to share my successes with specific statistics and, if I really believed in someone's invention but knew I would do all the actual work to "make it happen", I would find it fair to take more than 10% of the royalties.

But I would have a real discussion with the inventor. I would answer all questions and disclose records of verifiable past successes, ball park figures, time frames, etc. Unless someone is willing to be completely open, without necessarily offering guarantees, but at least hard facts and figures, which speak for themselves and allow an inventor to make an informed decision aware of all expenses, risks and probabilities and extent of success, then they can't be playing straight. As they say, there's no smoke wihtout fire and I can definitely smell the smoke with Davison. Thanks and good luck to all of you.
