This company is a walking, kicking contradiction. Very unethical when it comes to how they treat employees and customers.It seems as though this company is spreading themselves too thin and cheating it's employees. Once a Sensei gains popularity, He or she is fired. the customer service staff seems to know little about Karate and are rotated in and out so quickly that it's no wonder. This fast "turn-over rate"cant be healthy for the students, staff or instructors. A child should walk into a beautiful place and continuously see familiar faces. Dawn Barnes has a limited small circle of individuals who are over-worked but seem to have "management" positions.The auditor for Dawn Barnes Karate Kids is the same person who does payroll. I find this a bit unsettling. It is clear to see this company is struggling to find employees, keep and pay them adequately. I won't be taking my children there. DBKK should be teaching morals along with Go-zen.
Another thing I noticed about Dbkk is that a young female employee cheated on her test that was required to recieve a pay increase. She was not repremanded , instead she was told that she did the best on the test, which I believe was confidential information. Since when is it okay for management to discuss test scores of employees with other employees? That does not promote unity or team work. It underminds everything this company claims to stand for. The allowance of cheating and dishonesty should not have been over-looked or appluaded.I also wonder if prior employees that were subjected to unpaid meeting ever got reimbersed. ( I heard about the lawsuits pending as well) Dawn Barnes Karate Kids does not practice what they preach and unfortunately this company's unethical practices will be it's own downfall!
A previous person posted that dawn barnes karate kids was racist. I do not believe that Dawn, the founder herself is racist, However several members of management are questionable. There have been several complaints about Dorene Sorbel for many reasons; more than just discrimination or abusive language. Also I would like to bring attention to the fact that at Dawn Barnes there is no one of color in the highest levels of management. I believe only 1 or 2 African American employees are in the entire company. I would like to see how many employees of color have had longevity with the company or were ever selected for higher positions within DBKK. Regardless of race, many employees have been wronged by DBKK. Some have run out and quit, others were unfairly fired, employees were forced to quit due to severely cut hours with no notice. I commend anyone who has lasted at DBKK for a decade. Must have been the decade from he** ;-)
seems as if the employees who have worked there for a long time are very unhappy and have reached the height of their career. Maybe they have a hard time finding another job... I would hate to be stuck somewhere that treats its hard working employees with such disreapect.

It is one thing for a disgruntled ex-employee to vent about a company's fees or policies on the internet. It is quite another for an ex-employee to accuse someone of being a racist. Or in this case, an entire group of people.
To the author of this post:
How dare you hide behind an anonymous, fake name while attacking someone using their full, real name.
You should be ashamed of yourself. But you're not. Which is why this is so sad.
I can only hope this type of revolting libel will be expunged from this site.
And I can only hope that a fair-minded reader will be able to see through this reckless, unfair stream of hate.
