I have been conned.

We are buying a property in Jewel of the Sea in Calabria and initially we were using a different law firm but, in 2009, we disinstructed our previous lawyers and decided to change solicitors:  we were promised by De Tullio law firm that they could get the deposit back for us as the construction work was stopped and we were concerned about the security of our deposit.

we were led to believe during the initial conversations with them that they had the right skills experience and knowledge to get us out of contract and give us the deposit back. these were all lies. we have paid thousand of pounds for legal fees and have not achieved anything from them.

we now hear from various forums that jewel of the sea is back on track and is will be completed in 2012 and 2013: in the meantime, De Tullio advised us to cancel the contract in 2009 and now we are with no contract, no bank loan guarantee and no deposit back

stay away from this lawyers, they promise you the world and charge you a fortune in legal fees but do not deliver anything. I feel completely conned, we can't afford to loose thousand of pounds and we dont know what to do now as we do not know much about the Italian system

Now they don't return our calls, emails are not answered and we are completely fed up with them. STAY AWAY FROM DE TULLIO LAW FIRM, they will take your money and not deliver any services

AUTHOR: De Tullio Law Firm - ()

POSTED: Thursday, October 10, 2013

 Dear Readers,

As a preliminary remark we would like to publish some press articles showing the current status of the development based in southern Italy named “Jewel of the sea”:

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2288630/Police-seize-resorts-Italy-IRA-militant-run-alleged-involvement-mafia-money-laundering-scheme.html

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/northernireland/9911410/Briton-hunted-as-police-crack-IRA-and-Mafia-fraud-scheme.html

It is important to highlight that none of our clients used our services when originally deciding to invest in such development.

At that crucial stage they all used the services of a “different law firm”.

They came to us when they had already signed a preliminary contract binding themselves to purchase the property and having paid, at the time, a substantial deposit.

We have never promised nor suggested to be able to recover the paid deposit since this is only possible through a litigation procedure in the Italian competent Court.

We have been instructed instead to execute a full legal due diligence concerning the development, examining planning permission, the signed preliminary contract and the bank loan guarantee.

If as a result of the above, we had advised to terminate the contract in year 2009, suggesting “not to throw good money after bad”, considering the current status of the development (seized) and the parties involved (allegedly members of mafia and IRA), I don’t think it was a bad advice.

Regards

De Tullio Law Firm
