 Tammy Terre Haute, Indiana I know for a fact Harrold and Leah Winkler are rip off artist in the dog world, because I've dealt with them. At the time they were operating as Scott and Lori Brown, and Kennel name was Teddy Bear Golden Retrievers, yes, in Hickory, North Carolina. They had advertised a 2 yr old male, named Thevenet Teddy Bear, an Ashbury Angel Heart son. I was familiar with the litter, the breeder in Spain, ect, ect and agreed to buy dog. I could not believe my luck. He was priced at 4500 dollars. I sent them a money order as requested for deposit, made out to Scott Brown for 1,000 dollars, I got the rest of the money in cash and told them I would drive there and pick him up that

weekened. The night before I was suppose to leave, Scott Brown emailed saying the full sister to the male I was buying was in emergency surgery due to her hip came out of socket? I ask if the same thing might happen to the male dog, and from there, is where their out was... he tells me (or Leah, whoever it was sending email pretending to be Scott Brown), that they aren't selling me the dog anymore, and they stopped responding to email. I called them on phone and told them I wanted the dig as we agreed per contract we both signed, me agreeing to buy dog, and they agreeing to sell dog, told them my friend and I were on out way as planned to pick up dog and would have balance in cash as we'd discussed. We

drove over 800 miles one way to Hickory, NC and we could not get them to answer phone, although I left many messages. I stopped at the Longview Police Dept. In Hickory to get directions as we could not find the place. The officer we spoke to said he knew exactly where it was, and said most likely I had drove all the way for nothing and had lost n y deposit as well. He said to come back, if that was the case. It didn't sound good, as he told us they have a rap sheet as long as his arm, for ripping off people on dogs. So, with that knowledge, we go to the house, the same address I sent the money order, and I go up to the door. A woman answers (Leah Winkler), and I say hello, I am Tammy from Indiana and I

came to pick up Teddy. She says she doesn't know what I'm talking about and nobody by the name of Scott or Lori Brown live there. I can see 2 English goldens in the house. I told her this is the exact address I sent my deposit to, and she says if I don't leave she is calling the police! I told her that would be just fine, because I just left the Longview Police Department and they are waiting to press charges if I don't get the dog or my thousand dollar deposit back. At that time she slammed the door in my face. I knocked on the door again, but she would not answer. My friend Jan told me to come on, let's go back to the police and tell them what happened. I am crying my eyes out, because I really wanted the dog

and it was all starting to sink in. The officer filed charges and put an investigator on the case. He told me their names were not Scott and Lorrie Brown but Harrold and Leah Winkler. He would be in touch, I told him ibwould gladly drive back to Hickory to testify if he would prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law. He said they already had charges pending from different incidents, and that this time they would finally nail them. We drove 800 miles back to Indiana without the dog. The hip emergency with the full sister was the scam they used to keep my depisit, and the dog, although I never once said I no longer wanted the dog. I think this is what through them, they expected me to back out, not drive there to

get him with the rest of money. I don't think they even had Thevenet Teddy Bear. The investigator sent me a copy of the money order she cashed, they had put white out over the name Scott Brown and wrote Harrold Winkler over the top, and deposited it into their account. They also have a video of Leah Winkler at a local convenience store buying a money order made out to myself, and also a copy of that money order. She was well aware, if she refunded my deposit my case would not hold up as well in court, the criminal charges I filed were what prompted the refund. The investigator told me if I cash the check I should give up pursuing having her convicted. He also told me her husband voluntarily stopped in the

Longview Police Dept and said he works all day and he is not certain what his wife is up to during the day but he knows she is up to no good. The investigator told me he believes Harrold was being honest, and the real person behind the scam is Leah Winkler. I have no idea, but suspect he is correct. I do know Leah Winkler has the foulest mouth I have ever ran across, as I have over 30 emails she sent after I got home cussing me out, calling me every name imaginable, although my heart was still broke in a million pieces. I contacted Santiago of Thevenet Kennel, the breeder of Teddy Bear, and let him know I would not rest until she was exposed, and Teddy was in good hands. He is now in Tennessee, and I have been

in contact with his new owner. She agreed to sell him to me, as she decided she was too busy to show and had him advertised on Puppy Find. Again, I was thrilled to have a 2nd chance of owning him, but the next day I got an email from Leah, cussing me out and saying I will never own Teddy and she will make sure of it. I had to finally lay it down, although I have tracked down a litter mate in Spain, Thevenet Freya, full sister to Teddy and was hoping to get one of her pups some day. In truth, I don't think my heart will ever completely heal, Leah Winkler is a foul mouth hater of everybody and everything and if you think for one moment she's not, just check with the Longview Police Dept, they don't hesitate to tell

you all about her. She is evil to the core, and I regret she has anything to do with this wonder breed if dogs . Pitbull suits her personality better. I am not afraid of her, and will gladly testify under oath, what she did to me, in hopes of putting a stop to her. Using fake names, fake websites, fake dogs, changing things up all the time, she is a professional rip off artist, don't kid yourself. The person defending her mentioned God would get her accusors, that's real funny.

The Winkler's keep changing their phone number and all their past websites since year 2009 is because me myself being like flies on dog s**t and that is why they put that on their ads.

I F**KED every website of theirs, I F**KED their phone numbers, I F**KED their address. I f**ked Hickory Goldens name, I F**ked Desert Sun website name, I F**ked Frosty Paws website name, and I f**ked English Creme goldens and Puppies for sale from them all because I did NOT get my dog Sydney back.

So I F**ked these people all over the internet with trying to ruin them all because did NOT get my way and get Sydney back. I have everybody in on this with me against these people. So now everybody that is involved in this with me, the Winkler's are telling every breeder and every puppy buyer that sees this all over the internet what we are all doing to them for they are trying to f**k us all back. It is nothing but a Game is all it is all because of Sydney because I did NOT get her back so I am F**KING them.

Whenever the threat of a lawsuit comes up in these posts, it's usually an attempt to silence critics.  These types of lawsuits are often called SLAPP lawsuits - Strategic Lawsuit Against Public Participation.  From Wikipedia:

"The typical SLAPP plaintiff does not normally expect to win the lawsuit. The plaintiff's goals are accomplished if the defendant succumbs to fear, intimidation, mounting legal costs or simple exhaustion and abandons the criticism. A SLAPP may also intimidate others from participating in the debate. A SLAPP is often preceded by a legal threat."

SLAPP lawsuits have become so common that most states have crafted Anti-SLAPP legislation to halt companies and people from abusing the system.

In order to take legal action, Lea Winkler aka Leah Winkler and/or Harold Winkler must prove:

1) that the information posted about them was untrue. 

2) that the information posted by another damaged their ability to do business.

There is proof that people purchased dogs that had been formerly used for breeding by Harold and/or Lea Winkler aka Leah Winkler and those people were subsequently attacked on various forums for breeding those same dogs.

Given that most everything posted about them is verifiably true, Lea Winkler aka Leah Winkler and/or Harold Winkler would have a difficult time proving that they were defamed.

As far as proving that Lea Winkler aka Leah Winkler and/or Harold Winkler's ability to do business has been damaged, it could be shown that the multiple instances of changing their kennel name and the information posted on multiple puppy selling websites had more to do with that than anything that has been posted by others.  Since the listings for Harold Winkler and/or Lea Winkler aka Leah Winkler on several puppy selling sites clearly state that they do not answer emails, they may have limited the number of buyers who will contact them.  They also have no dedicated website for potential customers to refer to.  This could also hamper their sales.  Proving that internet postings were responsible for this lack of contact information could be difficult.

Tubie, Pulling up the names of the Winkler's does not in fact prove anything at all on them other than hearsay from others for I see your name and your real name all over so many breeders complaints and with the past ones of the Winkler's too of which you have written as well and about so many other breeders out there too for your real name is plastured all over the ads too. Does this mean that I should hate you and post all kinds of stuff all over the internet about you just because of stuff that is said about you if in fact negative? No. It is not the right thing for you to be doing with judging others as the Winkler's that you in fact do not know or ahve never met. Have you ever heard of being there is always two sides to a story before before judging others on hearsay? Should we go there?

I did a research on that name of dog with AKC with The American Kennel Club. They told me that the Winkler's were second owners of that dog after the breeder sold her to another party first. So yes everybody please take the advice of Tubie to see for yourself the truth on the Winkler's for it is what everybody needs to hear from themselves to stop what they are in fact doing to them on behalf of Debbie Kern.

Letting you know that judging the Winkler's on hearsay is not the right thing to do just because somebody else has an issue with them.

I see Debbie Kern coming up next on this post just as all the rest of you in order and in line too of this army.

Winkler's never ripped anybody off- people that canceled sales ripped themselves off for I did all the extensive research on this for a while now with seeing what everybody was doing to this family and their names. I also researched who was writing in defense of them that was making it worst for them and it turned out it was past puppy buyers that had purchased from them with trying to defend this family of which knowing them personally but it was only making it worst so the breeders Winkler's cut off all ties to those that were trying to help them while Debbie Kern and her army was going after them of still of which she is.

Debbie Kern has many many people going after this family being I have contacted quit a few myself and have found this out on my own of what in fact she is doing and why. What a shame of all you out there that have destroyed this family all over 1 dog named Sydney in helping the defense Debbie Kern within her ugliness and made up stories.

Winkler's do not have any complaints that are legit on them whatsoever being I called AKC and GRCA both and nothing stands on them of any nature or structure of any claims whatsover and it is all apparently all made up of false aquistions against them from one named person and her army she has.

You may think that I am stupid because I know darn well Debbie Kern has put you up to this rebuttle just because after researching all this with you this is what she does to this family and breeder. What if I told you that I was a legal investigator in on this case of what you are all doing to this family for no reason? I have been investigating all this for months now and more information is seeking through.

I suggest that an end needs to be put to all of this of what is in fact going on towards this family since 2009 or further actions will be taken against everybody that is involved in this.

This reads exactly like every "rebuttal" ever made by the Leah Winkler, Lea Winkler, or Harold Winkler.  There is absolutely no information here that has not already been refuted several times in other threads. 

Before buying a puppy from this breeder, please Google search Lea Winkler, Leah Winkler or Harold Winkler.  Ask yourself why people who have "done nothing wrong" have so much negative information out there about them. Ask yourself how one person (Debbie Kern) could possibly have so much influence that she is able to influence people from all parts of the country to speak out against the Winklers. 

Since the author claims that they have contacted references, perhaps the readers should contact the other breeders mentioned in this and other posts and see what they have to say.  Some have already come to this site to defend themselves against attacks from Lea (Leah) and Harold Winkler. 

As for the name changes, most experts agree that a name change is usually a way to avoid negative publicity.  If the Winklers have done nothing wrong, why do they go out of their way to erase any links to their past? 

One last thing, if the readers contact the AKC, please ask them specifically about the registration history of Honor's Sonic Boom's Girl Sydney, registration number SR50918911.
