Debt Relievers, Inc. Aka Christian Debt Management Debt Management Ripoff Boca Raton Florida

Beware consumers! Debt Relievers, Inc. aka Christian Debt Management is a ripoff. I entered this program with a great deal of apprehension in April 2004. I was assured over and over again by the representative that kept calling me that they would reduce my interest charges and help me get my accounts paid off in less than five years. I checked them out with the Better Business Bureau and all seemed to be OK. I signed up with them with four of my credit card accounts. At the time, I was not behind in any payments and my credit history was good, although I had too much debt, my balances were high and the interest rates left something to be desired. I trusted them with these four accounts as a means of getting my interest lowered and getting out of debt sooner. I was not behind to any of these accounts.

Debt Relivers drafted my bank account on April 17 for my initial payment. I have since made payments again in May and June for a total of $1,520 paid to Debt Relievers, Inc. As of August 5, none of my creditors has been paid anything! I have made numerous attempts to contact Debt Relivers by phone only to be put on hold, disconected, reach a mailbox that is "full" or get no answer at all. I was able to have some email contact with Rachel at Debt Relievers, Inc. but she kept putting me off each time that I asked questions about my account and when my creditors were going to be paid.

Contacting my creditors, I found out that only one had even been sent a proposal, which was accepted, then dropped when Debt Relievers failed to make any payments on my behalf. When siging up with Debt Relievers, they stressed over and over again that I should not contact my creditors, that was their job. Well, I found out that the reason that they did not want me to contact my creditors was that the creditors would give me a better deal than Debt Relievers could.

It has now been almost four months since I made the mistake of getting involved with Debt Relievers, Inc. None of my creditors have been paid anything by them, my money has not been refunded even though this has been requested by email, fax and certified mail. I have given them until August 25 to refund my account in full. If this does not happen, and I have no reason to suspect it will, I intend to pursue them to the fullest extent. I have prepared complaints for the Better Business Bureau, Federal Trade Commission, Attorney Geneeral's office, etc. As a member of the media myself, I plan on contacting ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN and FOXnews about this company. I believe that this is exactly the kind of rip off that they like to report on.

If by some miracle my money is refunded, I will not pursue the complaints and media, even though my good credit has now been ruined by these people. In either case, I feel it is important for consumers to be aware of this company and their dishonest practices. They need to be stopped!
