Debticated Consumer Counseling Ripoff Scam beware worst mistake I ever made Germantown Maryland

The entire story is too long, here are just a few ways I was taken advantage of by Debticated and Associates/Citi. In April 2003 I fell behind on 3 of my credit cards and 1 unsecured loan. After hearing Debticated's commercial on 97.1 The Eagle in Dallas-Ft. Worth I called to see if they could help.

My initial contact was Josephine Lambert. I was told that they could lower my interest rates and payments and after six months on the program I would be able to get a consolidation loan at an even better interest rate. I was given an amount to pay Debticated based on the four accounts I wanted them to "counsel" me on and was told that once I paid they would start negotiating with my creditors. Turns out that 2 of the creditors would not negotiate with Dedicated and 2 did. I requested a refund for the money I paid for the 2 creditors that would not negotiate and Josephine told me I could not have a refund but the money would go towards one of the 2 credit cards that will be handled by Debticated.

I never saw that money again, in my pocket or credited to any account. Dedicated took it! Bare in mind, I am financially scraping by at this point, as is everyone who decides to go this course. That is when I found out the entire first payment goes to Debticated and not to my bills, putting me even further behind. I had to still make payments to my credit cards after paying Debticated hundreds of dollars which I thought would be going to my credit cards. Another problem I had was that the Associates/Citi card I was paying through Debticated entered an agreement with me through Debticated on an interest rate of 9.9%.

Three months later it skyrocketed to 27.99% with absolutely no notice or reason. I had made all of my payments on time. NO ONE would tell me why, fix the problem, or contact me, I spent hours on the phone with Debticated and Associates/Citi only to be insulted. This is when I cut all ties from Debticated and Associates/Citi and have started legal action. I have lost over a thousand dollars with Debticated.

Furthermore, if they were real Counselors and dedicated to hepling me get financially stable, they would have 1.worked to get the interest rate problem with Associates/Citi straightened out quickly and got my back interest credited to my account, and 2.counseled me with my finances instead of stealing money from me right from the beginning and during the time I was with them. Lastly, there is no consolidation loan at the end of the 6 month plan, its a scam to real you in. You have to have good credit to get the loan and the requirement for signing with Debticated is you have to be 2 months behind on your payments. This is not a non-profit organization!

They require that you pay a "voluntary contribution", up front and per month, and they don't clearly tell you that the hundreds of dollars you need to scrape together and pay them to start negotiating does NOT go to your creditors. If you decide you don't want to pay the "voluntary contribution" your account is found to be in default and then you are in real trouble.

This "voluntary contribution" is a required fee, and its money that could go to your creditor. Do not get suckered in by the ad. They are preying on your vulnerability and will take advantage of your situation. I learned the hard way, it won't happen again!
