The Del Norte Triplicate ceased being a bona fide newspaper when its current editor, Richard Wiens took over in 2008. 

Since then it has become a tabloid of a vocal, fringe minority of lunatics -- many recovering drugs addicts with the associated problems that come from that long-term lifestyle -- that advances its agenda no matter what the cost to the drastic decline in subscribers.

Most of the residents in the county refuse to buy the tabloid, yet the family that owns it from Bend, Oregon keeps the paper alive having reduced circulation to 3 times a week.

Examples of the declining standards in journalism in the publication is its fanatically positive coverage of the disbarred District Attorney (first in California history) Jon Alexander.  Although Mr. Alexander was suspended without pay by the County's Board of supervisors (an unprecedented move) the Triplicate still publishes Alexander is the District Attorney when, in fact, the Interim DA is Katherine Micks.

The Triplicate even skewed its reporting of former two term elected District Attorney Michael Riese to the extent when he was found "Not Guilty" at trial on all four charged counts then the tabloid still suggested Mr. Riese was guilty!  The tabloid is run by fanatical supporters of the disbarred DA, Jon Alexander: among them are:

It is a shame that Del Norte's only newspaper is in fact a tabloid for this lunatic fringe that cloaks itself as "Del Norte Democrats".  In reality, they have nothing in common with the Democratic Party.
