My daughter now 19 bought a computer from DELL last year after being authorized for a credit account. She is and has always been very financially savvy and responsible obtaining her first credit card on her 18th birthday.

Her purchase was a top of the line laptop computer and she opted to do the online billing at the recommendation of the sales representative.

After about 5 months of paying she began qustioning why her balance was not going down and when she called them they explained that she has been one day late on one of her first payments which caused her to begin accruing late fees and additional fees each month.

She was also not notified that her trial warranty periods was about to expire and ended up ultimately without a computer after her new puppy "sprung a leak" on her computer screen.

She has attempted to talk to and work with DELL in every fashion to have her computer repaired, she sent it in to them as they requested along with $500, they notified her later that it wuold be an additional $500 to repair it and they would not repair it or ship it to her until it was paid.

In the meantime she is paying almost twice for the computer which is obsurd, they refused to send her the money back that she originally sent in as we thought she should just buy another computer instead of spending $1000 to fix one that she is still making payments on "on time" and owes more than that on it.

She has continued to make her payments and has requested that they reverse some of the charges and/or increase her credit limit, they refuse to work with her at all.

I think it's a shame that she is taking full responsibility for the situatin, not asking for freebies and has more than proven her credibility. She has 3 credit cards and pays for her own car, lives on her own and pays all her own expenses.

She is currently in the process of purchasing her first home which I think speaks to her capacity. It's a shame that large conglomerate companies take advantage of youngsters who are making a difference in our world when there are so many who don't.

They least they could have done was send her money back and the computer so she could have it repaired elswhere. We also checked with other local repair specialists who can fix it for $300 or less. Again when she requested they return her computer to her they refused, but she still has to make the payments.

DELL advertises the lowest prices however when you order from them you end up spending more than if you walk into a retailer and purchase a set up.

Their customer service has been terrible and my daughter is at ths point a victim of this multi-billion dolar corporations scam.
