Dell financial promised %free till 1/2005 with Dell Preferred approval, I was approved,I bought a $3000 computer. The first bill came I noted a box Fiance Charges 0, I paid the min payment as requested. The second bill came thats when I saw finace charges and a 20.74% rate. when I asked why charged 20.74% they replied that was only for customers approved for no % not just plan old preferred customer like me. I purchased a $3000.00 computer from Dell.

Dell promised me a 3 year in home service contract, very attractive offer. Now, I find out they mean I am the in home tech and I am required to disasemble my computer, following very technical information and find the problem, then they send a tech to install the part. Why bother, they insist I do things I don't even understand, like remove mother board, memory board, battery*which has lots of warnings. I told them I am NOT a tech, but they say it would cost too much to provide a service tech in home. They have me running test, answering questions too technical for me to understand, I can not even give the correct answer. I have spent over 40 hours trying to get a technical problem solved or repaired. Still not fixed.

Do Not buy a Dell unless you are a technician. Stupid me, I just want to use a computer, not repair them.

Dell also has a forum, called community forum where other customers can help eachother, right? I told my story there only person that answered me was code name:BIG BROTHER, and you know he told me the computer would have cost too much if they really gave in home service contract for 3 years, that I will just have to take my computer apart and find the problem myself and then they will send out the part and tech will put it in for me. I think I am really getting scared now, BIG BROTHER? what on earth did I buy? He also sugested to me to have a friend come over and figure out what is wrong with my new $3000 computer. Right! Surething! I will never buy another Dell, I guess since they say they have an award winning service dept they think we have to believe it? Not me I just think Dell gave themselves that reward.
