In the past 5 months I've had 2 major problems. First, my hard drive crashes. Second, my D drive breaks. And when I call and tell them about these problems, they tell me to do things I've already done and then their tech people get rude.

Plus, you are only a number to them, unlike how they claim to be there for you and help you. I spend good money for my laptop and they don't care. They send me refurbished parts and I know I can expect this machine of mine to break again.

How can a brand new laptop lose it's hard drive in the 1st month? I'm in the military and I lost valuable documents when it crashed. Then I reinstall all the software and it has not run right since. Do you think they would compensate me somehow? NO! They don't care and they won't care.

As long as people buy their crap and give that company money, they'll keep doing it half-a*s. This laptop of mine gets super hot and when I tell this tech guy named Robert about this, he says just because it's called a laptop doesn't mean you can put it on your lap. And I tell him when I do, I make sure that the vents are open and it can breathe.

I honestly think that they gave me a used machine since I find files and programs from months before I even got it. And the I order a floppy drive from them and need it the next day, I payed the overnight price and don't receive it until a week later. And they wouldn't give me credit for it.

When I built it, I ordered a 64m video card and they didn't give it to me. At least they didn't charge me for it. Plus here's another thing, I know a business owner who got a crappy machine from DELL and complained. And you know what they did for him?

They sent him a new machine, a better machine. Why did they do this for him? Because he's a business owner and I'm just a lowly person in the military? I'm not playing any cards here, but I want to know why that someone like that gets special treatment and people like me get used parts and still what I think is a used machine.

I do admit, I really liked my machine when I first got it, but now it's just one thing after another going wrong with it. This is not a rant to get free stuff or better stuff from a company, but it is to let you all know what you can expect from buying from DELL.

God forbid you use Microsoft Money and input all your info and this happens to you and then have to send a bad hard drive back to who knows who will find all that information. I lost pictures that I can't get back, vital information that I use for personal use in the military and all the other fun thing that I collected on my way.

So my friends, once again, my rant is just to tell you what you are in for when you buy a DELL. That you for your time and good luck. And if you have had the same thing happen to you or know someone that something like this has happened to, please let me know. Thanx again...Nick

And since I wrote this rant in Aug. '04, still nothing. They wanted me to fix my own machine. They will not take it back nor help me on my own time. They've told me to get all the disks together and a Tech will call and it will be 'bout 2-3 hours. I work. I can't take off work to try to fix this.
