On April 22, 2014 @ 2:36pm, I purchased gas for $20.00 with my Chase credit/debit card.  I gave the Attendant the card and he went inside the store instead of swiping the card at the pump.  He returns telling me to back up to pump 3, and I thought, why?  The station at that time wasn't busy.  He pumped the gas, gave me back my card along with the transaction receipt.  I drove off.

The next morning I went on-line to do some banking and saw an unauthorized transaction for $30.01 from Delta Gas Station.  I immediately went back to the gas station to dispute this.  The Attendant, who pumped the gas wasn't there,  so I went into the office.  The clerk denied any wrong doing.  Then he said I should go to Hillside, another town, to settle the matter.  Then he said the station holds additional funds when a card is used.  It's  for security.  Security?  Meanwhile, I was on the phone with my bank's fraud department.   The bank refunded the money back to my checking account the next day.

I told a fellow co-worker about this and she, too, experienced the same at that gas station.  She said there are always problems with that station and fights breaks out there with customers.  Realizing there's some wrong doing going on with that station.  I wrote a letter to the Essex County Division of Community Action/Consumer Affairs; wrote a letter to the office of Weights & Measures, and filed a complaint with the NJ Office of the Attorney General.  I submitted copies of all correspondence to Chase along with the copy of the transaction for $20.00, and printed out the banking statements of the 2 transactions.

Two months later, Chase took back the money from my account stating that I lost the dispute because Delta apparently showed a transaction for $30.01 for the gas I supposedly purchased, which I have yet to see.  I argued with Chase.  I threatened to close out my accounts and report them to the Banking and Insurance Commission.  The bank returned the funds to my account.

Delta had the nerve to dispute this!  I decided to file a police report against Delta Gas Station.  The $30.01 certainly did not go into my gas tank.  It either went into another customer's gas tank or the Attendant pocketed the money.  This is a fraudulent banking issue.  This is theft.  I believe the gas station is randomly selecting unsuspecting customers and skimming them when they use their debit card.

I'm warning people not to purchase gas from that station.  If you do, do not use your credit/debit card.
