I needed to ship my car from San Diego, CA to Wake Forest, NC, which is close to Raleigh. I spoke with DAS sales' person (Armando), who told me that my car would be delivered in a 9-15 day window. My car was still in CA 15 days after being taken by DAS.

I left many messages for Armando and the head of customer service (Simone); I have yet to receive a call back from them. It has been 20 days since DAS took my car, and my car is still in CA. They can't tell me when it will get here. I've been given many different reasons why it hasn't been shipped (e.g. not enough cars for a load, too many cars, floods).

The customer service representatives who I am able to reach are very rude and unsympathetic to my predicament. They simply tow the company line and tell you to read your contract, which states that delivery times are ESTIMATES only. And they have said that they will not cover my rental car expenses, which are becoming huge.

I plan on contesting the charge with my credit card company, in addition to filing complaints with the Better Business Bureau and the Federal Trade Comission. If my business operated this way, we would have been out of business a long time ago.

Dependable Auto Shippers (DAS) - Car Eventually Delivered - BBB revokes DAS' membership

AUTHOR: Kenneth - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, July 03, 2006

Eventually, my wife and I did receive our Jeep Grand Cherokee, but only after we reported a complaint to the credit card company, who suspended payment and launched an investigation.

After our car was delivered, we were so relieved. There was no obvious damage to the outside, so we signed for it. DAS's driver then drove our car off their truck and parked it in our driveway.

When I got into the car as the driver was pulling away, I noticed a severe scratch on the leather of the driver's seat. I called and emailed DAS immediately (within 15 minutes of the driver's departure), and sent them a digital photo. My wife and I both recalled that the driver was wearing one of those wallets with the long chain.

As you can imagine with a company like DAS, they stated that since we didn't note the damage on the acceptance form, they wouldn't cover it. I'm not surprised. Also, the exterior of our car was filthy when it arrived, and there were many scratches in the windshield that were not there when they took it.

Needless to say, I will NEVER do business with this company again. Also, I'm proud to announce that their membership with the Better Business Bureau (BBB)was revoked on Sept 12, 2005 because of an excessive number of "unresolved complaints" (209 in 36 months). You can read more about that on the BBB's website.

Note that the BBB marked our complaint as resolved, even though my wife and I felt that nothing had been resolved. The BBB's stance was that DAS had fulfilled their contractual obligations. Imagine what DAS must have done to people who's complaints were not resolved!

DAS is trying to cover up their BBB revocation by opening branches in other states. As this site (ripoffreport.com) states, the BBB is a friend of business, which is true. Think how bad DAS must be run for the BBB to actually revoke their membership. DAS is on their way to being out of business. Spread the word.

They had the nerve to charge my credit card even though they can't tell me when my car will be delivered!!!

AUTHOR: Kenneth - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, July 04, 2004

Even though my car has not been delivered and the delivery date is revised on a daily basis, literally, DAS had the nerve to charge my credit card. Before deciding to let DAS ship my car, I asked when my card would be charged.

The sales representative, Armando, assured me that my card would not be charged until my car was delivered. Of course I disputed the charge with my credit card company and am filing a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission (http://www.ftc.gov/).

25 Days after pickup and no delivery in sight

AUTHOR: Kenneth - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, July 04, 2004

Today is Sunday July 4, 25 days after my car was taken by DAS for transport from San Diego, CA to Raleigh, NC. On Wednesday 6/30/04 around 10 AM EST, I spoke with Denise at customer service.

I always try to be professional and courteous. To Denise's credit, she did too, but she showed no sympathy whatsoever for my predicament and merely reiterated DAS' policy that a 9 to 15 day delivery is an estimate only, and that DAS would not be responsible for any portion my rental car costs, which are now over $1,500. Like every other customer service person, she also told me to review my contract.

Denise told me that my revised delivery time would be "July 6, since most shipments are running 10 days behind schedule due to a recent successful marketing campaign." Successful???

I asked Denise when my car would have to leave California in order to be delivered on July 6, and she indicated by Saturday, July 3. Today is Sunday, July 4 and my car is still sitting in California.

We choose DAS because we wanted to save time and money versus driving our car across country. At this point, driving the car across country would have been a much better option, even when factoring in fuel, food, and hotel costs. Consider that I am paying on a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee that I haven't been able to use for almost a month. And then there are the rental car costs, which just topped $1,500. Even if my car were delivered today, I'd be out more than $2,500 (rental car + DAS' fee).

At this point, I think I am going to just buy a second car at my new location, rather than continue to put money into a rental. When am I going to get my car???
