I responded to an ad on Craigslist for a Dental Receptionist in Hartford Ct. 

I received a very articulate and believable (on first sight) letter. This is the letter:

Good afternoon,

Thank you for replying to our ad for the receptionist position. I've reviewed your application and wanted to let you know that the original position was offered to someone else. The good news, however, is that I may have another position opening up that would need to be filled in about a week that you may be qualified for. It's not definite, but I should know more in the next day or two.

To tell you a little bit about us: we're a local dental practice devoted to offering our patients the highest standard of preventative, restorative, and aesthetic care. We are always at the forefront of the latest research in dentistry and use the most up-to-date methods and technology.

The position is administrative in nature and also involves a fair degree of patient interaction. The compensation is $19 per hour with benefits included after 8 weeks. If you're interested, please get back to me as soon as possible so I know whether or not to keep you updated. Thanks!

I noticed that there was no company address on the letter--but did see a website and responded--giving out my new phone numbers. After that I went to the website to check out the company and quickly realized that it was a scam. I put the name Dex Dental into the browser and "Ripoff Report" came up. Someone reported this "John Arrington" and posted an email that was IDENTICAL to the one I received. I thank that person for reporting this, because they spared me from second guessing my better judgement. 

If you're seeking work--use your better judgement--the Internet postings are LOADED with fraudulent ads! Craigslist is almost a complete waste of time for finding   real job.
