#1 UPDATE EX-employee responds
Awful company -- both to employees and to customers!

I used to work for Dex for over a year, and I left not too long ago because I found out their true practices and I do not agree with them. I had a lot of customers with problems regarding the letter of cancellation. Not a lot of people know that it's one of the "fine prints" on the advertising agreement they signed. What you could have done also is email or fax one to them. Even just a piece of paper with "Cancel my ad" written on it and signed by you -- that would be sufficient.
This company also pressures their salespeople to practically be sneaky around what they say to customers. This is why I quit, I can no longer handle the pressure from management and the backlash from angry customers. What an awful company. If you must invest your advertising dollars, go with search engine marketing. Not a lot of people use the yellow pages anymore, go with google, yahoo, etc.
