Ryan Davis owns Auto Science in Dallas.  He is the biggest scammer and liar I have ever witnessed in my life.  After doing some research on him, it turns that I was not the only person to get scammed.  I would stay far far away from him.

He sells cars without a dealers license, he rips people that get work done at his shop.

He sells cars that he doesn't put into his own name and then title flips to innocent people.  He always rips people off when they ask questions.  He says one thing, does another.

Be very very careful.

POSTED: Tuesday, July 31, 2012

We were VERY careful.  He was a super nice guy and very personable.  We responded to the following add placed on Craig's list:
I'm selling my 2005 Legacy GT with a STI engine swap. The car is in almost perfect condition. The interior is a 9.9/10 and the exterior is a 9/10. The drivetrain is a good as it can get. This is my personal car, I am the owner of Auto Science in Carrollton where we do Subaru's. There are no check engine lights, it is tagged and inspected the title is in my name. The car makes 301whp on a dynojet. The body has 165k miles on it.
What I have replaced so far this Summer
Engine- Full sti engine, turbo intercooler(still have the car here it came out of) 48k miles on it(replaced timing belt before install and all gaskets)
Transmission-Rebuilt, new Comp Clutch Stage 2 Clutch(drives like stock), group n tranny mount
05 sti catless up pipe
entire exhaust with stainless 3" into dual mufflers, quite inside and sounds amazing
4 brand new tires less than 2k miles on them
New ac compressor and evaporator
Everything that was not satifactory to me was replaced.

The car is super solid, and very quite, it makes no creaks or windnoise, no rattles. My favorite part of the car is no one pays attention to it. Your stage 2 STI is slower than this car. If you think Im going to let you drive it without bringing money your wrong. I may take a trade, I might come down on the price.

My son had found his dream car and we were both very excited.  My son had been working very hard and saving every penny.  The car seemed to be immaculate and as presented in the Craig's list add.  We requested to see the title.  He did not have the title and said that he needed to look for it at home.  The next day we talked and he told me that he did not have the title. He offered to do the transaction and let us drive around on his tags.  We declined. He told me he was disappointed because he was going to use that money to buy a truck.  He then offered to let us take the car. We declined.  He texted me the title application receipt and license plate with a text that said, "just to let you know nothing funny is going on." He bought the car on May 24 and application for title was not made until July 17.  He told us that the title should be in his possession in 10-14 days because the other dealer he bought it from delayed doing the paperwork for the title.  We did a title check and a Carfax on the vehicle and the title was clear.  Then we made an appointment to pick up the car to have a Subaru dealer do a complete exam on the car.  He agreed.   The day before our appointment he texted me to say, "It's a no go on the legacy I'm not going to sell it. I apologize."  To say the least we were disappointed but there are always other opportunities.

Before you buy a used vehicle always ask to see the title.  Even if you see the title you can do a complete title history through Txdot.  I highly recommend.  There is a lapse between the time that an application for title is made and when it is processed through Austin that you should be concerned about when buying a used vehicle.  This will not come up in a title search nor will it show up on CLUE's database.
Check with your insurance company and have them run the VIN through their database.
Check with outside sources like CARFAX to piece together a history.
Have the car checked out by a reputable mechanic or dealership.
I hope this is helpful and please be wise as a serpent and gentle as a dove.
