I WAS ABLE TO GET MY VANITY OUT OF HER ....HER DRIVER SHAWN DROPPED IT OFF....IT HAD A PIECE ON THE BOTTOM OF THE  FRAME THAT WAS CHIPPING OFF AND IT WAS MADE FROM THE 80 YEAR OLD OAK SHE SOLD ME ON...80 YEAR OLD CHICAGO OAK FROM A FLOOR OF A BUILIDING.....WHO KNOWS BUT IT WAS NICE WOOD...THE ONLY THING IS THE QUALITY OF THE CABINETRY IS AVERAGE...I SEE MANY MISTAKES THAT APPEARS TO BE FROM RUSHING THE JOB...WHICH DOESN'T SURPRISE ME GIVEN THE NATURE OF HER BUSINESS AND HER DAILY MADNESS.  THE FRAME AROUND THE CABINET IS MADE FROM OAK THAT SHE DISTRESSED HERSELF AND STAINED...THE PROBLEM IS I THE OAK ON TOP DOES  NOT MATCH THE OAK ON THE FACE OF THE VANITY/PEDESTAL...OVERALL I AM REALIEVED I WAS ABLE TO GET MY SINK INSTALLED BY MY CONTRACTOR IN ONE DAY!  AS FAR AS THE MIRROR SHE PROMISED ME TODAY I GOT THE USUAL EMAIL AT AROUND 3 PM SAYING "Chad
The mirror will not be finished at the glass shop until tomorrow. " THE USUAL DIANE BOWEN BULL$#!+

I ASKED HER FOR MY MONEY BACK ON THE REMAINING ITEMS AS SHE PROMISED ME YESTERDAY IN FRONT OF MY CONTRACTOR AND THE SALON OWNER(WHO WAS YELLING AT HER IN THE CAR YESTERDAY ABOUT HIS ORDER) AND SHE SAID "Sorry, the goods have been made.  The vanity that you recieved represents $800  of the $1100
you paid,   As I stated, your full lenght mirror will be ready after 4:00"  DIANE BOWEN

KEEP IN MIND I ORDERED A VANITY/PEDESTAL, A FRAMED 80 YEAR OLD OAK MIRROR TO GO ABOVE THE VANITY AND SINK.....ABOUT 5 FEET WIDE WITH BEVEL 3/8"MIRROR AND 48"HIGH, A 12"X72" WALL FULL LENGHT MIRROR(THIS IS THE ITEM SHE KEEPS PROMISING THE MOST), AND SHE HAS PROMISED ME FREE WINDOW/SHUTTERS MADE OF OAK, AND FREE MEDICINE CABINET COVER MADE OF OAK AND BEVELED MIRROR TO COVER AN EXISTING MEDICINE CABINET, AND MOLDING TO GO AROUND MY DOOR...SHE HAS BEEN PROMISING ME THESE FREE ITEMS AS A MAKE GOOD FOR ALL  THE BROKEN PROMISES AND 2 MONTHS OF HELL!!!!!!!!!!!

NOW SHE IS SAYING I I MUST PAY "You will have everything that was on your original invoice that you paid for,  If you would like the additional items I would be happy to invoice you for those as well.  I would require a 50% deposit on the shutters and molding .  i will have them ready for you in approx 4 to 6 weeks Due to the fact that you need to drill the hole for the mirror for electrical  we have been unable to finish that part of the project as we are waiting for your pattern.  


The medicine cabinet door is also not on your original invoice, so please bring payment for that today, or rather a deposit so we can put it on our schedule.  I will forward you an invoice of the cost of these items later this morning. "DIANE BOWEN

I HAVE TOLD HER I AM NOT INTERESTED IN HER RUSHED SUBPAR CABINETRY WORK AND BROKEN PROMISES, AND TO PLEASE REFUND ME FOR THE MISSING ITEMS THAT NEVER GOT PRODUCED AND I THINK ME AND MY CONTRACTOR WILL TAKE OUR BUSINESS ELSEWHERE.....

IF THERE ARE ANY PEOPLE WHO HAVE BEEN RIPPED OFF BY DIANE BOWEN CELLAR DOOR STUDIOS I ENCOURAGE YOU TO COME FORWARD AND GIVE YOUR EXPERIENCE WITH HER...I SPOKE TO THE GENTLEMAN NEXT DOOR IN THE ANTIQUE STORE AND SHE STATED TO ME ABOUT 10 PEOPLE HAVE BEEN IN HIS STORE ASKING HIM ABOUT DIANE AND IF HE KNOW ANYTHING....HE IS A VERY NICE MAN AND HAS WONDERFUL ANTIQUE MERCHANDISE AND HARDWARE.....HE ASSURED ME HIS COMPANY IS BASED OUT THE EAST COAST AND HE HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH HER......

On January 2nd 2011 I came across what I thought was a cute little
boutique furniture store that makes distressed furniture.  I was greeted
by a very nice, sweet, knowledgable woman named Diane Bowen.  She
introduced herself as the owner of Cellar Door Studio.  After learning
what she could do for me I was very interested in placing an order based
off the quality of furniture I saw in the showroom and what seemed to
be a functioning business.  She told me the only way she could start my
job was if I paid all of it upfront!  Which was $1,100.  I went to the
bank and returned with the cash that afternoon.  She seemed like a good
person.  Then that week came and went with no real answer from Diane
when I called her...Then I get an email with a story of how her shop got
flooded by the rain and she was trying to fix the problem and she
hasn't had a chance to start my project....ok...I said to myself...Stuff
happens....

Then the second week came and went...an email from diane
about everything will be ready next week....then next week came and she
begged for my understanding, that she is so busy and blah blah blah..She
lost her cell phone, her email was down because of server issues...one
lie after another..It is now been about 2 months and I have nothing but a
bunch of emails from her with broken promises and lies. 

Her store seems to be closed but she is still working as I found out today...I ran
into one of her customers named Chad outside her store today and he too
was looking for her from an order he paid upfront for in January 2011! 
He said he made her sign a contract this time but said he now realizes
it means nothing to her....He also told me he was still trying to
collect the furniture he placed and paid for in 2008!!!!  He did say she
is great at what she does and I have to kill her with kindness. 
Unfortunately I think I have to accept the fact that she ripped me off
and I must now try to help prevent any further victims from falling into
her trap.  As I went around to the alley behind her store on grand and
18th I noticed her car!!!! Then she pulled up with a customer who is
trying to open up a salon in a few days and he was yelling at her in the
car for 15 minutes.....she then came out of the car to see me and said
she would have everything done tomorrow.....Bulls**t I can smell a mile
away!

Beware of Diane Bowen and Cellar Door Studio.  At first she may seem like a great contact you just scored with...and her low ball pricing technique gets everyone to pay upfront.  But when she delivers the product it is not exactly what she sold you on according to clients I have spoke to that have received partial orders to day. God only knows if I will get my money back but
hopefully no one else gets scammed by this lady. Also I am aware of a store she used to operate out of in culver city on 5649 Mesmer Ave Culver City, CA 90230
