Direct General Insurance has not refunded my cancelled policy in an expedient manner. It is doubtful they will ever refund it.
I paid for a one year insurance policy with Direct General Insurance (usually called Direct Insurance) and filed for a cancelation one month ago, after moving to another state and acquiring new insurance with some other company. I have called them to inquire about this problem and I have recieved no feedback, though I was assured that I would recieve a call back about this matter.
If it was one month left on policy, I might be a little more understanding, but I had over three months left on the policy and I really wanted the refund for the remainder.

#1 UPDATE Employee
Company Procedures Must Be Followed..
AUTHOR: Stacey - (U.S.A.)

I have worked for Direct for over 7 years and there are procedures that we must follow. When an insured wishes to cancel their policy they must write a letter with their policy number/numbers stating when they would like their policy cancelled. They may either mail or fax the letter to us. They may elect to go to an office should they not want to write a letter. We write a general auto policy and if the insured elects they may purchase additional policies which offer extended coverages. These coverages offer rental and medical reimbursement and are assigned a different policy number. When cancelling a policy the cancellation form or letter must have all policy numbers written on the letter or cancellation form. This is a requirement that legally we have to abide by. I apologize for any confusion that this insured has. Direct is and has always been a wonderful insurance company who cares a great deal about it's insured's. Customer Service is one of Direct's top priorities. Should this insured write his/her policy number in this rebuttal I will happily check on the status of his/her refund and if a number is provided on the policy I will call the insured directly with a response.
