Direct Readers Guild harassed me threatned to contact their legal service West Dundee Illinois

Recently I was contacted by this company at my work and the person asked for the manager. I told this person the manager was not available. She in turn explained that she had a special offer for scan coordinators for a magazine subscription. She explained that it was only $3.49 per week. She began telling me what magazines were available, and I told her I needed her to send me information about it so I could make a decision on whether I wanted it or not. She asked me for a credit card number, to which I replied"I don't give my information out over the phone." She took down my address and phone number, and I waited for information to come in the mail. A couple of weeks later what I did get was a letter from them stating what I owed and what magazine I would be getting! I did not agree to any of it! The next day I received a payment plan stub book and some envelopes. Then I started getting three different magazines in the mail. I quickly looked up this company on the internet and found out that other people have been harassed by the same company with similar experiences. I immediately called the number on the letter and told them I did not sign up for this and I wanted them to cancel it. The lady on the phone I was speaking to said I was unable to cancel and I would have to talk to a supervisor. The lady transferred me to a rude person who said I had no choice but to pay it because it was a binding contract.

Since then I have contacted each of the magazines and canceled the subscriptions. The amount they allegedly say I owe for these magazines is $906.60. Now I am waiting to see what happens.

They have been calling me at home at least 5 times a day but I have not answered. They even call me on Sunday mornings, and late at night. Each time they call its from a different phone number according to my caller id. I am no longer receiving the magazines and think its unfair that I should pay for something I did not agree to, nor even receive!
