When we got our new home it was 2 years old and had direct tv already wired in it so we figured we'd use them for our TV service. I should have known what would happen after they said they couldn't "install" for 3 weeks. I accepted that and had the install done when I was in Hawaii so my adult daughter was here to accept the service guy and the equipment. My home is a 2 story home and had all rooms wired from the previous owner so we assumed it was a short process...WRONG!! Even though all rooms were already wired, it took him 3 hours to "complete" the job. My daughter was on the main level of the house and didn't go upstairs to check his so called work. When I returned home, I went to turn the tv in the master bedroom on and guess what??? IT DIDN'T WORK!! I called them Monday the 12th of Nov. and told them they had 48 hours to get my receiver working. No surprise there, nobody ever called me back and when I called them back today, they had no record of my call-even though I threatened to cancel and switch to DISH NETWORK. When I called them today, I was passed around several times, hung up on, and placed on hold over 45 minutes before I hung up. I called DISH NETWORK on my cell phone while I was on hold with direct tv and have an appointment tomorrow for their installation. They don't charge for the second DVR and were thrilled to remove a direct tv dish. Now, to add insult to injury, direct tv will send out prepaid labels to return their boxes....but the rep I spoke to named Justin said they would arrive in "a few weeks". In the meantime I am still being billed for their so called service.
When we ordered direct tv we had to pay for the second DVR receiver, so when I told them we were done with their company and just want a refund for the receiver that never worked...I WAS TOLD I HAVE TO WRITE A LETTER AND "ASK" IF THEY WILL REFUND MY MONEY!! This is complete BS, and I will be writing to the better business bureau.
So, if you're looking for satellite TV, DON'T EVEN CONSIDER DIRECT TV, if you do you're looking for problems. Their customer service people don't care one bit about their customers and the FCC needs to re-think allowing this companys license.
