When me and my wife split up in February of this year, I had to move quickly and the house where I rented a room had no TV option but satellite and they had no TV service of their own. So, I initiated a contract with Direct TV for service, which they also began using in two of their rooms.

The people with the house, a young couple, decided after one month that they didn't want a roommate after all. They told me I had to leave immediately. So I called Direct TV to inform them.

This was either Friday or Saturday. The representative of Direct TV said that they would contact the young couple on Monday to offer a switch of service from me to them, since the new home I would be renting from already had Direct TV service.

Although I called the young couple repeatedly in the weeks to come, they wouldn't answer my calls or my messages for them to return my calls. But I figured if there was a problem, that Direct TV would inform me of such.

Now, since I have been going thru a divorce with all the emotions and complications that go along with it, I didn't think to contact them. And, since I had to put in two change of address forms within 5 weeks, the post office couldn't seem to deliver my mail correctly. After a couple of months, I got a bill for service at that other address.

I called to tell them of the situation, and was told that they didn't have any record of my call to them about my moving, etc. No matter how much I talked, the less I was able to get through to them. Now, I'm sitting here with a final bill of over $600 dollars and them talking about collections.

I am unable to pay this bill, much less afford much of anything since my wife has had my wages attached for alimony, and I wouldn't want to even if I could. I feel that I did all that I could under the circumstances, but they don't want to hear it. Now, I've researched the situation as well as I've been able to on the web, and I'm concerned that I won't be able to get an arbitration hearing. It seems that I've got a problem with their contract where it concerns my options to deal with this situation.
