I want to start out by saying I am a Customer Service Representative at DIRECTV. Not an outsourced call center, an actual DIRECTV office. I don't get paid for coming on here, I'm not directed to do this, I just have a genuine personal interest in making sure that the customers I serve have the best possible information I can provide!

I am not sure WHO you talked to that told you that, but that is absolutely not the case. DIRECTV never charges you to talk to a CSR. The only things that a charge like that would apply to would be ordering pay per view or making a payment with a representative. And even these two options have alternatives such as the automated phone system or www.DIRECTV.com .

It may be possible that you might have dialed a local Home Services Provider or an authorized retailer, and due to the fact that they are contracted, independant companies, they may have their own rules.

In the future, please make sure you call 1 (800) 531-5000 for any issues you may have, and a Customer Service Representative will be more than happy to help you at NO COST!

Once again, I do appologise for the misunderstanding and thank you for choosing DIRECTV!
