Well, we listened to the sales, infomercial pitch many times on TV before we, like so many others, found ourselves being sucked in. Even though we couldn't really afford to do this. They made it seem like "a dream come true place to be going to for our consumer needs". A place that would solve all your financial problems when buying goods. Next thing, we recieved a visitor's pass to visit their "nearly empty" showroom in Eatontown, New Jersey in March, of 2005. The guy was friendly and a very fast, convincing talker as he took us and anothers on this counter-clockwise tour from room to room, as he explained in detail all that was rosey and wonderful about becoming a member. "Not telling anyone the price" until the hard sales pitch at the very end. (**A whopping $4,500.00**) Papers then were issued for signing and they processed them very quickly on the spot.

"We didn't know what hit us!" We found ourselves saying in awe, on the way home... Wow! What exactly happened?!!! What do you think we just did? We expressed deep concern. Then the worrying started and we wrote to the people online via e-mail to cancel us. Then, after getting no responses, we wrote again with no response. Next thing that happened, which was unrelated to this, my husband was fired from his longtime job of 20+ years. This made all matters way worse! Here we have a mortgage, all other bills to tend with and still no response from DirectBuy. We then recieved a phone call from, it sounded like a little grandmother type voice asking us why we didn't make a payment to them. She went on to state that DirectBuy moves swiftly and they want their money upfront and don't like to wait. They want it fast, so they went and sold our membership fee to a BETA Finance Company, P.O.Box 6000, Crown Point, Indiana, 46308-6000, which later I read about this finance company being part of DirectBuy anyway!

So, what in the heck do we do now?!!! We have to sell our house and move soon and can't afford all this payment to this company that won't even contact or respond to us, other than asking for money. It's all disappointing and we need help, Pleease!!!

Direct Buy

AUTHOR: K - (U.S.A.)

I don't understand how (or why!!) you signed all those papers if you didn't know what you were signing them for?!?! When my husband and I joined Direct Buy the contract and the forms were very clear and we knew exactly what we were signing. We, along with everyone at the presentation, were told that it cost $4,000 to join and after the presentation each person/couple was set up with an individual rep to discuss the contract. There wasn't a lot of pressure from the sales rep, nothing confusing, no rushing, no forms thrown in our face. Had it been that way there's no way I would have signed anything!!

I don't think there is anything that can be done with your situation. Unless you can PROVE that they didn't tell you what you were signing I think you're stuck paying the loan and being a member of Direct Buy.

I'm glad that we joined Direct Buy. We couldn't afford to pay the entire $4,000 that day so we paid what we were comfortable with and financed the rest. I feel that our $4,000 investment has paid off well. We are buildling a house right now and have been able to buy things for our home that we otherwise could not have afforded. We've been members for almost 1 year and we started purchasing things through them about 6 months ago and have already saved over $30,000!! Joining was definitely worth the money in my opinion.

Use The Membership The Way It Was Intended!!!

AUTHOR: Harvey - (U.S.A.)

I have had nothing but an awesome experience with Direct Buy. They were completely open and upfront about how things work. By the end of your tour you know what the choices are. Either buy now, or you've lost your opportunity. While I thought that was a little extreme, when I had a chance to see the savings I've received (approximately $58,000.00 to date), in the short amount of time I've been a member (8 months), I can understand their policy.

We live in a country where free enterprise reigns, and a company is free to conduct business in the manner they seem fit. I think the mentality we have in this country of always wanting something for nothing, and looking for the next 'get rich quick' scheme, we lose sight of real value when it is looking us right in the face! I actually thought it was pretty awesome that they give many options should you choose to become a member.

We all know that there is a charge for credit, and if you can't pay for the membership up front, then of course you are going to acquire some fees. That's how the barter system works. If we simply take the time to fully evaluate our motives when we are moving foward on something such as this, we can save ourselves some extreme frustration.

That's my two cents for whatever it's worth!

Please Know What You're Getting Into Before Committing

AUTHOR: Valentine - (U.S.A.)

Late last year, my parents told me they were going to move to Florida during the winter of 2007, and then told me they were leaving me with the house, I was very excited! I had seen the infomercials of Direct Buy on TV for a few weeks and was taken in by it like most people, but I knew it would give me a chance to remodel and renovate the house the way I wanted to and the huge savings mentioned was the more reason to do so. I was a bit skeptical though because all infomercials to me leave something important out of what they are preaching.

I attended a session with my best friend in December 2006 because she knows more about home remodeling and was much sterner than I am when it comes to asking the right questions. The presentation was great and like every "good thing" a price tag is not far behind. The membership was about $4k which I thought was a little high for my budget, but I put into perspective the massive remodeling I would be doing within the next year or so; I'd actually be saving thousands on home improvement. I didn't have the $4k to give all at once so the salesperson explained some finance options, which worked well for me. My friend and I asked a lot of questions because when it comes to contracts and fine prints, I put on my "game face".

Before I went to the presentation, my friend and I had several questions already outlined to ask. When going into something like this, I would say it's advisable to be prepared, it's just like buying a car. At the end of the presentation, I was a bit disappointed that I had to make a decision to join right there and couldn't possibly think it over and come back, but due to the privacy of the wholesalers and various people coming in and out with other intentions, I could understand. But it certainly is an investment; you have to give a little, to get a little. I've worked in retail in the past and sometimes you will find some things cheaper (deeply marked down) in some stores, but people need to understand that it's about quality not quantity, and who wants to wait around for major sales to go into jam packed malls?

So far I haven't purchased anything, but the savings I've seen so far for estimates on the kitchen and bathroom are amazing! The bedroom set I've always wanted was listed with them, and it was $3000.00 less than what I saw it in the store for! I would really advise one to join Direct Buy if they have major things they want to do to their homes, but also do your research with your finances/budget; if an emergency occurred can you continue to pay, or you can just pay it in full and not have monthly payments as well as avoiding some finance charges. Increasing the value on one's property will create a far greater return on your home investment than the membership fee.

In the end, no one wants to be bought so it's up to you (and your responsibility) to control the way the presentation goes as well as ask any questions if you have doubts. If something doesn't seem right to you in the end, follow your gut instinct, but it worked out for me.

There are a LOT of DIRECTBUY reports here, and

AUTHOR: Thomas - (U.S.A.)

some people may have gotten their money back. I think one technique was to picket their place of sham, I mean business, while carrying big signs.

I guess next time you will do a little research on the web (like here, for example) before you go to a pitch? No one is going to solve all of your problems, financial or otherwise, unless it is what they are paid to do.

And stop viewing those TV infomercials- they are nothing but lies.

Uncle Adolph proved that if you tell a big enough lie often enough people will believe it.

Direct Buy is the future of home improvement.

AUTHOR: Mark - (U.S.A.)

I rehab distressed houses for extra income. I have done this for the last 10 yrs and have spent about $275, 000 on building materials. Direct buy is the greatest idea I have ever seen.

Imagine that you make toilets and you would like to get your product onto the shelves @ Home Depot or another big box retailer. Home Depot tells you that they only have shelf space for 3 manufacturers and they also tell you that, if you can get space, they can only take 3 of you models usually your least profitable ones, and then they tell you that your product must retail for $100, $150, and $225. If you are not Toto, American Standard, Kohler, or that Chinese house brand that Home Depot stocks. How do you sell your product? You get to launguish at Roy and Margie's Hardware and Notions in Walls, Mississippi, or Earl's Hot Biscuits and Plumbing Warehouse in Idabell, Oklahoma. Then you have to close your factory.

Somebody invents Direct Buy and now you have an outlet for your products. I can tell you that I know HD and Lowes' prices by heart and that I just finished a house with a $35,000 materials budget (retail) that translated into $ $8,650 in real savings. Since I have been a member, only three months, I have saved almost $17,000 in real money. The people are great, the savings are real and I highly recommend them. The only negative is that you must order 4-6 weeks ahead of your install schedule, and there are no loss leader pull in deals. Also my store is not open until Noon and not open at all on Sunday (DB you really should change that). You can just buy for cost every day. Yes it is a bit of a pressure pitch and I know how they could deal with that. Face it it is a hard pitch to make $4-$5K for a service.

Listen if you want to really make money, buy the stock as soon as they do an IPO. This will be the great retailing story of the 21st century. Think Costco on steriods. And you don't have to buy the inconveinent 48 pack.

Sorry it did not work out for you but I paid $5,000 in Arizona and I don't want my money back. Why don't you see if they will let you transfer you membership and then sell it. The only reason I found this site is because I lost my daytimer and the payment address for Beta Finance. I googled it and you came up.

Best regards, Mark from Arizona.
