DirectBuy - UCC TotalHome Ripoff Their contracted window-blind person, Tom Suarez, never finished his job, left us with one window without the blind we ordered. DirectBuy refused to install this blind stating that they had already refunded us the money. However, the amount refunded was not the full price of the blind. Chris, manager, never returned our calls. The same problem happenned to about 20 other members. Jacksonville Florida

DirectBuy's former window-blind person from Southern Window Design, Tom Suarez, never delivered the last window blind we already prepaid. For that window, Tom had brought the wrong blind, which we asked him to install for temporary shading.

After 3-4 months from the time we paid for the blinds in full, Mr. Suarez asked DirectBuy to credit us $176.98 for the "inconvenience" and the delays in delivering all the window shutters and blind in the house. He promised that he would bring and install the right blind when it comes in. That was the last time we saw or heard from him. Since then, he has not been returning any of our calls.

We now realize that DirectBuy noted that refund as the cost for the undelivered blind, with which we are fine. However, that amount is not the full cost for that blind and they cannot get the correct breakdown amount from Mr. Suarez.

We paid for all the window coverings in full since August 2004. To this date, we still have the wrong blind on that window.

We know for a fact that this same senario is happening to at least 20 other custumers/members whose problems are even more serious than ours. The bottom line is that DirectBuy's method for signing up members ($ 3,500.00 membership) is unethical without full disclosure of any hidden handling fees and charges that they add on when the members actually order the products.

The actual discounts are no where near the "40 to 60 % cheaper than retail prices"--directly quoting the membership sales person (Ben). After adding handling charges and delivery fees, members are lucky to get about less than 10 % off of retail prices.
