 I just got back from my credit union where I tried to stop DirectTV from ripping off my account for $115.87. I failed as they took the money from my account via my debit card and claim I owed them tho I dumped them and went back to cable tv after being lied to and over charged by them for crap service. In july I wanted to upgrade to an hd dvr that records up to 6 programs at once and was told I was a valued customer of over 2 years and would not have to pay any special fees for instillation just for hd service. The person who arrived was a joke who spoke like a surfer dude and walked arond my yard with a gadjet the size of a bar of soap and told me he could not get a signel and did not want to go up on a ladder to try to get a signel from the roof line where the current dish was installed. he said he could not get a signel and called his supervisor who said I was out of luck. Surfer dude left my bill was raised and as I complaind on the phon when I got the bill and complainded crap service was not going to be paid for let alone for a larger bill that I did not owe I was promised they would cut me a deal and drop the bill by about $50, they dropped it by about $20 and the service was still crappy. If it rained I could do better watching over the air on my handheld tv. In the 2 years I had to have a dvr replaced three times and each time the dvr was not worth the price of service. I had to pay direct tv $5 a month for insurance to cover the equipment and service calls which were lousy. I called the cable company and was installed in three days with a whole home dvr tthat handels 6 programs at once and carries all the sub channels in the detroit metro area which direct tv wont. The bundeld service is $131 a mont with highspped internet that is fantastic as the internet bundel with direct was from at&t and was so slow that I could nit wathe a trailer on IMDB without it stopping repeatedly to catch up and let me see it. Forget hulu or anything else it was a bad joke and was averaging $45 a month seperatly from directtv. I pay less and have better services now and can belive the consumer reports story that direct tv is looseing thousands of customers every year. When I was on the phone with their representitve today I would have done better with a nigerian boilerroom scam artist. They got the money and feel I owed a final month-cancelleation fee and am out of luck....of course I am still cosiderd to be a valued customer. They will be unable to charge my debit card as I cancelled it and have a new credit union account they can not charge. They were sent their reciver months ago and after being tole they did not want the dvrs back as they were obsolite I gave them to an electronics recycler. NEVER! use direct tv or at&t the customer service centers make nigerian boiler rooms look respectable. They will lie ike a rug and pluck your wallet for anything they feel they ca take and claim is owed them. The only thing they are owed is toatl contempt for being a low life imposter of what a respectable company should be. Lester W Warren Michigan.
