DirectTV, PrimeTV,Parago.com ripoff consumer fraud ripoff Southern Pines North Carolina .....

On April 11, 2003 I had DirecTV installed in my home. Before that, I watched a tv commercial for a two room special with free installation with a $99 rebate. So I called and spoke to a representative. He asked what my zip code was, and I gave it to him. He talked further about what I would need to get the system. He said that I qualified for the receiver and asked for mailing address and credit card number.

I got the Choice Plus plan, and it was with local channels, just like the tv commercial had stated. All of this for around 38 dollars a month...130 channels, plus local stations.Great, right??

Well after the installers left, we were told that as soon as cable disconnected, we would begin receiving the local channels. Keep in mind, that the only reason I left Time Warner cable, was because I was paying 38 dollars for basic cable, no movie channels, no frills programming. This was an excellent deal, so I thought.

Well I called after about 3 days after we got our cable disconnected; and no local channels. I called DirecTV. They said that I was signed up for Choice Plus, without local channels!! Woa!! I said. What do you mean? He explained that I was "not in the zone" for the area to receive local channels. Local channels were not even being considered for this area.

I was thoroughly pissed. I had been duped! I had just signed the contract for one year of service, with penalities for early termination, and this DirecTV presented fraudulence. If I had known that I was not going to get local channels, then I would have kept my Time Warner Cable. And besides, the channels we do get are Mexican and Music. These are the main satellite channels anyway.

They take up a wide selection of the channels. Once the free three month preview of the movie channels are over, they'll be nothing to watch on DirecTV. So I was told that I could pay for feeds out of New York or California!! and I"m here in South Carolina. They have also lost my rebate info. It's may, and I'm still waiting on my rebate check. I had to resubmit and mail copies of the agreements signed by the installer.

I want resolution. They can eat the system. I am not wanting to pay for something they aren't delivering on.I feel it was false advertising. The representative should have told me right after he asked for my zip code that local channels were not going to be offered in this area.
One resolution could be for me to keep the HBO and Cinemax free for one year and then after that they can eat the system because I don't want it.
