Everytime I've ever made any kind of change with Directv they have always charged me wrong. Then when I call to get it changed its someone who can barely speak english or has such a thick accent I only get about half of what they say. I finally thought I found a way around it and asked for an email confirmation for changes and credits. I still have to call back and about 30 minutes later it is fixed.

I canceled my service and was told I will owe $20 for early termination of the contract. It will be due once the equipment is received. I am still waiting for a charge of some amout that has never been discussed to hit my bank account.

Directv is BAD news

AUTHOR: David - (United States of America)

POSTED: Friday, February 12, 2010

Hello again Ladies and Gentlemen,
I feel your pain and disgust with this company.

When I signed up with Directv their sales rep. told me if I agreed to 18 months of
service "that the good thing about that was I would get
the same low price for the entire 18 months." Based on
THEIR  sales rep's statement I agreed to the 18 months
of service.

For the last year I have been fighting with Directv over
this matter. They say my agreement is for 12 months at
$29.99 and the rate will go to $60 for the final 6  months.
I have ask them to review the tape (they record all
conversations) of my conversation with their sales rep.
They refuse to respond to this. Let me make it clear that
in my year long battle with Directv over this matter
that they have NOT ONE SINGLE TIME DENIED that their
sales rep. offered me the 18 months at $29.99.

The moral to this story is to NOT BELIEVE ANYTHING their
sales rep's tell you. The same goes for their customer service
rep's. When I first complained about this in Jan 09
their customer service rep told me to call back in Dec
09 to get additional credits to keep the monthly charge
at $29.99.Just another lie!.

If you ever have any dealings with Directv or any
company for that matter. Be sure you get the name of the
person you talked to, even better would be their employee
ID number. You also want to get the location they are
working out of. I know the person I talked with worked
in Phonix,Az., but unfortunely I did not remember his
name. I'm sure Directv knows his name because he probally
got a commission for the sale.

I have filed numerous complaints with the BBB about this
matter. In my last complaint I told Directv that if they
were not going to honor their 18 months agreement with me
that I wanted them to get their satellite dish off my roof.
This is part of their Jan. 08,2010 response:
After reviewing your account, we found that you will be
discontinuing service before your DIRECTV service agree
ment has been completed. Therefore you will be charged an
an early cancellation fee.

They also want me to pack up THEIR equipment that THEY
installed and mail it back to them! Even though they broke
our agreement. They are OUT OF THEIR MIND.

Concerning the satellite dish this is what they had to say
in their Jan.08 response "When a dish is installed on a
property, it becomes part of the property. Therefore, it
is the homeowner's responsibility to have the dish removed.
DIRECTV does not remove equipment, which has been installed.
We recommend you contact a professional to remove the
equipment as specialized equipment and training  may be
necessary to ensure safe removal of the dish and other
equipment. Sincerly, DIRECTV Office of the President"

As far as I'm concerning Directv is advertising their
product on my roof (their logo is imprinted on the dish),
and I expect to be compensated.
I believe $30 per month to be reasonable. I will send
them a statement the first of each month. If they do not
pay this fee, and really even if they do, I believe this
has the making of a LARGE CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT against them.
I would imagine there are THOUSANDS of out of service
Directv satellite dish's on roofs accross the country.
Are there any class action attorneys out there reading
this??

Folks If your are having or have ever had problems with
Directv please file a complaint with your local BBB, as
well as your state Consumer Affairs Dept. and/or Atty.
Generals office. In most states you can do this on line.
Just "google" consumer affairs dept. and enter a state.

They also have physical offices at Greenwood Village, Co.
and Carol Stream, Il. You can also file complaints with the
BBB, Consumer Affairs Dept. and/or Attorney Generals Office
in these states. In some states the Attorney Generals office
handles consumer complaints. In  most states you can file
your complaint on line.

To file a complaint with the Calif. Atty. Gen.
    http://www.dca.ca.gov

To file a complaint with the Calif. BBB
http://www.la.bbb.org (Directv home office is in California).

If anyone out there has had a similar problem like mine with
Directv I would appreciate if you would at least inform
la.bbb.org and the Atty. Gen. in california.

Thanks for taking time to read my story. When anything else
of interst happens I will let you know.

I say again, AVOID DIRECTV LIKE THE PLAGUE! Go with your
local cable company or Dishtv.

                            Take Care,

                                    David
