In May 2012, I signed us up with DirecTV under a promotional package that included free NFL Sunday Ticket for 2012 season and first 3 months free of their movie channels (HBO, Starz, Showtime, Cinemax).  We did receive the 3 months free of the movie channels, but when football season came, no NFL Sunday Ticket.

I called and reported we were not receiving the NFL Sunday Ticket as promised when we signed up.  The representative said she could not find it in our contract and therefore could not honor it for free.  So I tried sending an email to Customer Service again explaining that the promotion we signed up under included NFL Sunday Ticket for free this current season.  They responded by again saying they had no record of us having that in our contract.  Finally, my husband called and spoke to 3 people.  The first said, yes, I see that when you signed up the current promotion we were running included free NFL Sunday Ticket, however, I can not sign you up for the ticket, I will need to transfer you to someone who can.  He gets transferred.  The new representative goes back to the "it's not in your contract" bit and that they won't honor it.  My husband speaks to the supervisor who said the same thing and that they emailed him our contract when first ordered and we should have checked it then.

Of course my husband doesn't have record of this email they say they sent; but they do send paper statements every month.  I don't know why they would send the most important document, the contract, by a form different than what they send me monthly.

The whole reason I ordered DirecTV when I did was to get the NFL Sunday Ticket for Free.  It was too convenient for them to just leave it off the contract knowing that we wouldn't be aware of the problem for 3 months.  They basically made a bet that I wouldn't have a paper trail or phone recording to prove that they scammed us, and that I would still be stuck in their 2 year contract.  They have basically scammed an extra $200 out of us because my husband still insists on the NFL Sunday Ticket.  I am extremely frustrated that I have been set up without a way to prove that they intentionally either left off the NFL Sunday Ticket from our contract or are deliberately lying to us over the phone.

I believe they may have scammed more customers the same way.
