Folks, I have learned from repeated experience that there is only ONE way to get anything done about injustices/abuses with DirecTv: Call corporate headquarters.

I don't have the number, I haven't had to use it. Simply call Directv, they won't give you the number, but they give you the city that corporate headquarters is located in. Call 1800free411 (that's for free 411 as opposed to paying for 411) and ask them for the number for the city that directv told you - somewhere in California (was it merced?).

It is not a toll free number. Calling toll free numbers gets you nowhere, as the people that respond give you statements that are premade and shown on a computer screen in front of them. They don't really CARE about your problem. When you get through to the real corporate headquarters, simply ask them to speak to someone from consumer complaints. If I recall correctly, I ended up at the "office of the President" for the company, speaking to a real lady, who actually took care of my problem.

The biggest problem I had was that I needed repair to come out and fix whatever was wrong with the system - lots of snow coming on the screens in 2 rooms, I figured something was wrong with the dish. I had had them out one month earlier on a Saturday, now they were telling me they "don't do Saturday repair visits".

Driving home from Flagstaff, Arizona to Phoenix, AZ, I was on the phone the entire time, trying to get through to someone to actually resolve the problem. I was transferred to 3 different "supervisors", all three got quite personal in their remarks to me because I refused to hang up the phone, I KNEW they had Saturday service, and that's a fact.

No need to go on, they all refused my request. I got through to this lady from corporate and told her my story. "Well, that's absurd" she replied,"we wouldn't be in business if we didn't come out on Saturdays". Yes, I readily agreed, now can you set up this appointment?

Here's the real kicker. She took off over $100 in charges I had on my account (lots of pay per views), sent out the repair person for free, gave a new receiver for free (one of them was bad), added a bedroom for nothing and fixed the satellite dish.

I received hundreds of dollars in product and service for absolutely nothing.

BTW, the reason those supervisors didn't give me the service? I found out later, from this same lady, that they had not been given some sort of memorandum from headquarters about the fact that Saturday service is available, and, they were all from the SAME department.

I asked for the phone number for the Office of the President as well and was told they had no phones. Do they think we are complete idiots??? I called the Better Business Bureau and got the number. (310) 535-5000. The corporate office is in Los Angeles.
