DirecTV increases their prices and says they have the right to do this and that they can still hold the consumer to the orignal agreement. I know that whenever there is a material change in a contract, the interested parties have the right to refuse such changes or null and void the contract. DirecTV has a clause in the agreement saying that they can change prices to whatever they like and that this does not alter the agreement.

This is unfair as when I agreed to the 2 year agreement (which you don't even know you're agreeing to a two year agreement when you sign up for service, but that is a topic for another discussion) the price was different then what they are charging me now. DirecTV does not specify the amount change, as is customery in lease agreements which spend multiple periods, but mearly that they reserve the right to charge whatever they want.

This is a breach of tort law and I wish someone with knowledge, time, and the desire to earn 50% of a class action settlement would file suit.

In conclucsion, DO NOT GET DIRECTV!!! They are expensive, their technicians are unkind and do unacceptable installation, and their business practices are userious and predistory.

You're just complaining about the price increase. The same to you like I told the other woman I gave a rebuttal for; just because YOU don't like part of a contract doesn't mean it ISN'T a contract (that YOU signed). YOU SIGNED A CONTRACT STATING PRICES SUBJECT TO CHANGE and nowhere on your contract does it say what your prices will be. Failure to read the agreement beforehand or failure to accept the contract after you sign it means it's your own lack of research. And it's not like DirecTV is unreasonable considering they raised prices $3 ($5 if you have Premier) and companies like Comcast just went up as well.

It's almost as bad as saying the economy is the reason you can't pay your bill until it's like 12 weeks past due (which so many of you customers seem to think is logistical in even asking). Don't get what you can't afford. If a $3 price increase a month is too burdening you shouldn't have had the service in the first place.

I could certainly understand $10 or even $8 maybe but really..

You could not be more right. I am having the same problem with them. When I signed up for their service and went into contract with them the package was at a different price, now I get a bill and they have increased the price of the package I ordered so now I get the price increase. They are terrible. Yea then they use their "agreement" as an excuse for doing this to people. When you agree to a contracted price for something then that is what the price should be for the life of the contract or it's NOT A CONTRACT! It's a useless piece of paper that we have to sign that means NOTHING! I am glad I am not the only one who is irrate about this. Directv stinks!!
