I first purchased NFL Sunday ticket in 1998 for one reason only, that was to watch my home team play every sunday. I had no problems in 98 and when the bill came to automatically renew my subscription in 2000 I decided to let it go and get the service again. What I did not know was that the NFL had changed the blackout restrictions to include me, so when I sat down to watch the first game I was looking at A blank screen that I just payed $128.00 for. Now I know that this was not Directv's decision and that is not my problem with them. My problem was when I told them that I wanted to cancel my subscription and get a pro rated refund they refused. They said that they could turn it off but could not refund any money. So in my eyes Directv charged me $128.00 for a service that they could not provide me and after filing two complaints with the bbb and the cpa I got no satisfaction. So to all football fans BEWARE sunday ticket!

*Assoc Editor's Comment; Curtis, you're a tool!

AUTHOR: Curtis' dad - ()

Curtis,

I have been reading your rebuttals all night, and have concluded that you are a complete f idiot.

First, you try to insult M who is just trying to help someone that was mistreated. Then, to make matters worse, you say horrible things to a mother that needs assistance due circumstances beyond her control. What kind of person are you? Did you read her story in full? Sending her abusive husband to prison and moving in an attempt to protect her children, is reason enough for me to ask for government financial assistance; at least temporarily.

As far as DirecTV NFL goes, I applaud M for finding a way to cheat a bunch of NFL crooks; especially in this lousy sports market. I am not a local sports fan (Chiefs and Blues) so I am fortunately not affected by the blackout restrictions. However, if I was, I would do exactly what M suggested. Why anyone in their right mind would pay $80 to see a game in run down and extremely dangerous Veterans Stadium; the only NFL stadium that has a need for a judge and courtroom on site, is beyond my comprehension.

Furthermore, doing what M suggested is in no way stealing. All Eagles games, except for the 2 home games they play VS AFC opponents and UP TO 4 prime time games, are broadcast on FOX. Whether the guy watches the games on satellite, or on local fuzzy TV via rabbit ear antennas, he will be viewing the same network. Why does it matter if he sees FOX on satellite or FOX on antenna? From my experience, everything is the same, EVEN commercials. The same would apply for the 2 AFC games; except the network would be CBS. Obviuosly, the national prime time games would not even be an issue. Your whole argument sucks; but then again, that's what we expect out of ball pouches like you.

Additionally, as a DirecTV customer, I can totally understand why one would not be loyal to them. The only thing making their service marketable in this area is the fact that they have NFL Sunday ticket. They should be thanking their lucky stars that they are still exclusive NFL Sunday Ticket providers. Otherwise, they would be back to providing services only to those in states like Iowa with barely any cable alternatives available.

Back to you d**k breath; tell me again why your unemployment situation was any different than the other lady's. The way I see it is that you got s**t canned because you are an under qualified and uneducated a$$ hole. On the other hand, she quit in an effort to protect her children.

You spent much of your night attacking victims of fraud when you could have been finding ways to assist them. If a company or corporation mistreats someone, the victim has every right to get even; whether you like it or not. The original victim was mistreated and SHOULD do what M suggested in order to at least get partial satisfaction.

In any event, I have no doubts as to why you are unemployed. In fact, I am sure that is why you came here tonight and attacked victims. Are you feeling a little worthless because you are an out of work shmuck? Did it make you feel better attacking M and the lady who had an abusive husband? I certainly hope that neither of them pay attention to a butt polyp like you.

NFL should file a ripoff report on M from Penn.

AUTHOR: Curtis - ()

POSTED: Tuesday, August 27, 2002

I think it is hypocritical for people to complain when a company rips them off and then turn around and think it's perfectly OK to rip off a company or corp. M from Penn. you are breaking your agreement with Directv and the NFL. What you're doing is dishonest and illegal.

What people don't seem to realize is that companies "have to" pass the cost being cheated on to their honest customers. So, you're not really cheating Directv and the NFL, you're cheating other consumers. You might say "not so" because you are paying Directv for the service but the blackout rules are for the local economies.

People that work in and around the stadium depend on the live audience for a living. So, what makes you so special that you feel just because you figured a way to cheat the system that it's OK? BTW M sure is a short name.

Easy way to get your games

AUTHOR: M - ()

POSTED: Monday, August 26, 2002

To the original reporter; the answer is quite simple. First, find a relative or friend outside of the Blackout Zone, and give that address to DTV as your new address. It does not matter if the address is right outside the blackout zone or 3,000 miles away.

When you call to change your address, they usually do not ask if your phone # has changed, but if they do, say NO. They need your real # so that they can call and download information from our access cards; those little cards that easily get ruined.

Then, just sign up for auto billing so that you dont have to worry about getting the bill from your friend or relative.

I have done this numerous times (well over 15 times) so that I could watch preseason football and non NHL Center Ice hockey games. By doing this, I was able to view games that were not televised in my area or on a pass on the different out of market local stations.

The only problem is that you will not be able to see your local networks on the dish; you will be forced to watch the same local TV as your friend or relative. All you will have to do to correct that problem is get an antenna.

You can even do this if you want to view a show that is only on an out of market network.

Good luck

NFL SUNDAY TICKET PROBLEM FIX

AUTHOR: John - ()

POSTED: Thursday, March 07, 2002

Well.... To answer your issue, Directv is only the broadcaster of such services and the fees are collected by the NFL. The NFL's Policy on this sort of thing is that no refunds will be paid. When you originally signed up, you were advised of this and received a confirmation letter by Directv and the NFL. So in short, your gripe should be with the NFL and not Directv. I had the same issue and i contacted the NFL and received my FULL refund from them.. FYI.
