Opened a zero percent account. We've paid the bill every month on time. Out of the blue on the most recent billing statement they assert that we didn't pay the bill. We did pay the bill and have record of payment being made and subtracted from our bank account. Discover immediately raised our interest rate through the roof and nailed us with hundreds of dollars of penalties and fees. Their customer service department refuses to look into or fix the problem. DO NOT TRUST these lying, cheating scum and above all do not even THINK about doing business with them. Their zero percent deal was absolutely "too good to be true."

Discover card

AUTHOR: Steve - (U.S.A.)

I read some things from people. What you need to do is tell the company that you want the apr dropped, interest rates lowered and a higher credit limit.

Just keep trying every few weeks at a time, it will happen. Or, tell them you are declaring bankruptcy.

If you declare depending on situations they can't do anything except threaten people and that is no good.

Discover Card Financial Services Utah

Those Snakes are Deceptive and will turn you down after reviewing a FICO score of 702 and a perfect payment record, just to add another inquiry to CRA file which I didn't need. But on the other hand after looking at some of these other reviews they may have done me a big favor. Stay far away from them!!!!!!

Your experience is regrettable....however.......

...that has not represented my history with Discover Card Services. I have had a Discover Card for well over 15 years (since they were joined at the hip with Sears). In these years, Discover Card excused at least two "late payment" fees which were arguably borderline. I have never paid ANY fees or interest to Discover Card, EVER! I ALWAYS pay in full before the final date. Discover Card has willingly conducted at least 6 charge-backs to non-delivering merchants. Actually, Discover Card has absorbed, over the years) way over $100.00 themselves when they were unable to collect (reverse) charges made by merchants that disappeared before they had the opportunity to nail the merchant.
.
It has always been my position that card issuers are obligated to qualify merchants who accept their cards. This is to protect the card holder as well as the card issuer. Discover Card seems to be the only card issuer that shares this opinion, hence their previously mentioned crediting my account at their expense when the merchant escaped responsibly.
.
As a side note, this's why I ALWAYS pay any Pay Pal obligation with my Discover Card. Pay Pal states in their policies NO money will be returned unless it is first collected from the merchant. Pay Pal, thusly, declares THEY will never suffer a loss. This policy goes out the window if a dispute is filed with Discover Card. Discover Card, unlike many, will fight Pay Pal tooth and nail in the event a fradulent merchant comes up "missing" (according to Pay Pal). Pay Pal, as I have stated before, is some kind of unregulated cyber monetary n**i I.M.H.O.
.
I run betweeen $600. to $1200. or more monthly on my Discover Card. It's the primary card of my choice, paying (on line) my utilities, cell phone, Internet connection, Pay Pal, etc. Saves lots of postage too. Interestingly, any Discover Card statement may be paid at a Sears store right up to the final date. I use "their money" for up to three weeks interest free. 'Ya can't beat that!
.
I realize this site is for complaints and "rip-offs". In spite of this, I did want to give another view of the performance of Discover Card Services.

"I am glad discover card turned me downq"

You had no choice. You are in collections or a car repo and skipping out on a cell phone bill not to mention whatever else you haven't yet needlessly complained about. They had no choice but to turn you down deadbeat. Plus, you don't work. You need a job to pay bills. Hoy cow the delusion is hysterical. They were probably laughing just as hard when seeing that you actually had the balls to try and get a card with your -3 fico score. LOL!

being nice ?

Being nice and asking for a supervisor did not work for me.They basically treated me like they did not care to resolve the discrepancies on my account even though I have documentation.I had NEVER had a problem with GEMB before.

I paid on time actually early and all I
got was fees and more fees.I am going back to Sams Club and have them call AGAIN and try to straighten out the accounting mess GEMB made.God knows I cant get anywhere calling them myself!

Thats Shocking

AUTHOR: Kdavis - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, October 26, 2007

I have worked for Dc for over a year and they are a awesome company...I have other credit cards as well and delt w/ many other customer service depts...they def are not as nice and forgiving as we are...

If the pymnt was made thru your bank website we are not responsible for the time it posted to your account...accually we have the pymnt reps there 24/7 even on holidays! If its a DC error we wouldve reinstated your rate and refunded all your fees b/c thats our policy and thats the way we do business...if that didnt happen and it was the first time something went wrong w/ a pymnt we STILL wouldve done it for a goodwill adjustment for you but cms wont get any assistance if they are abusing the system...we like everyone else are out to make money too, you dont go to work every day for free or to sign your paycheck over to a charity...we are ranked #1 in customer service and in the top 2 in rates and fees...i highly doubt the customer service refused to look into the account for you...and all you needed to do if you so call rec a rep that wouldnt help ask for a supervisor and they would help...we are not like those other companies and wont let you talk to a supervisor...we will.

We get loyal customers all the time w/ our 0% apr ...

JUST A PEICE OF ADVICE FOR EVERYONE....even in a frusterating situation...being nice goes a long way...you call in being irate and rude that person wont do everything they can to help you...just like at resturants.
