We were charged two months in a row for Porno Movies that we never ordered. The first month they acted like they were doing us a favor by taking them off. They explained that sometimes your system might be picking up the neighbors signal and therefore it appears as if you ordered them. One person said it had to be within 40 feet and someone else from their company told us it could be as far as 200 feet. Now we have cancelled the service and they are insisting that we pay for the movies. My husband is a truck driver and my 11 year old neice and I are the only ones there most of the time. When I asked them what time of day they were ordered many times it was the middle of the day. There is no way that she or I ordered those movies. Ya know I would have noticed. Other times no one was even home.
They also charged us for a dvr that didn't work even though we had their insurance. They said that it had bugs and that that negated the insurance. When I asked them what kind of bugs since I know we don't have cockroaches. They said they didn't know cause the machine had already been destroyed and no one had put in the notes what kind of bugs.

Now they are insisting that we pay and that we ordered them. I sent in a letter challenging the bill for the movies.

parental lockouts....

AUTHOR: James - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, May 31, 2009

now as far as the uhf remotes are concerned. that according to the fcc guide lines. the remotes are test to work within 90 feet of the equipment without any obstructions. sometimes they will barely work in the room the receiver is in. the next time they will work the neighbor receiver. but on the back of the remote it basicly says. the this unit must not cause any harmfull interference . that it must accept any and all harmful interference. the other problem is that the unit does come with parental lockouts. you can lockout ratings , or channels. you can also select either the ppv and the adult channels. then enter a password for the channels or rating to be lock out. now i cant tell anyone about the new equipment. for i have had no one to complain about them. but the old legacy receivers model 3700, 3800, 3900. had a problem that one customer brought to my attention. when i installed his system originally. he had me lockout the ppv. he didnt want to know the password. so i had entered one in and locked out the ppv. a few months later he called me telling me he was able to order the pay per view. i went out to his house and he showed me how he was ordering the ppv . he was going to themes going down through the list and he would highlight one of the ppv. then he pushed select. what was supose to happen was it would turn it to the ppv channel then ask for the password. what was really happening was it turned it to the channel bypassing the the password and ordering the movie. in notified dish network of this problem at the time they were making theses receiver. dont know if anything was done about it. i never have tried to repeat this with any of the newer receivers. you should always lock out the receiver. if it is a single tuner you dont have to connect it to the phone line if your not going to order ppv. if a dual tuner. the phone line connected to the reciever will save you 5.00 dollars a month. if you still dont want the phone line conected and dont mind paying the extra 5.00 bucks a month. then you can disconnect the phone line.
