The thing most people dont realize is that both Dish network and Hughes.net are the same companies as echostar, and many other names. Paperworkl may be able to be provided to show seperate entities but both are connected. I personally know the person who actually made the dish and LBnF's for both entities.

Hughes fair access policy is probably legal but shouldnt be. When you pay $65.00 a month for service for internet and told it is unlimited then unlimited needs to be unlimited and NO CONDITIONS. It should also be illegal for entertainment type companies to do any credit checks or put anything on your credit report. I was with hughes for a long time and never had a problem until one week I got shut down 3 times for Fair Acess Policy. I had been with them for 5 years and never was shut down for it before and never went over it. So what made them think I could go over it 3 times in one week? I cancelled and was paid up in full at that time.

I have continued to recieve a bill for 2 months which I will not paid and ended up taking legal actions against Hughes for fraud, and credit card fraud and illegal business practices. I also Have filed an harassment injunction on Charlie Ergin personally and all of his employees and dish network and echostar and all other entities of his company for continued calls after I cancelled service with them. I was paid up in full when cancelled and Dish network continues to bill me and threaten to disrupt services which I dont use and have cancelled in writing several months ago.

Once these 2 entities got to be millionare companies they forgot the time when they cried to us first subscribers about wondering if they could pay the bills they had when they started. Unfortunatley they lost track of what the service and idea originally was suppose to be. More channels to rural viewers at a decent affordable price and no games. Now it is nothing more then a pissing contest to see which one can make more money and buy more million dollar homes and fancy leer jets.

I highly urge all customers to cancel all services with both dish network and hughes.net and find other providers.

Fair access

I was paying Sprint 60.00 a month for their internet service.  I got a letter  fro them IN August  of 2008 telling me I was going into roam. Their letter and the CSR was rude to say the least. hekeep repating i was roaming to much . I told her that I turn off the roam feature in their software. That Sprint was either lying or their software didn't work.
It was a lie. I had unlimited download and about then things were changing. They were going to start limiting their customers to 5 GB a month download. Sprints also stated that if i remaided a customer and went over my 5 GB . My account would be terminated.
They gave me the option to cancell my account. I don't know what the big deal was I only had 4 months left on my contract.
So if I was going to be treated like garbage. I might has well pay the lower monthly rate and went with Cricket.
Everyone might has well get use to the limitations on down loading. Not many companies have unlimited download anymore.
Also I could be wrong about the year . But Dish tried buying Directv got shot down in December 2006 and again in January 2007. Then SW Bell tried in February 2007 and also failed to get FCC approval. Then later that fall Rupert Murdoch (News Corp) was approved and put it back up for sale in early 2009 for 10.7 billion dollars.  I believe it was sold again last year and someone else is now looking to buy them.
Nobody wants Directv and they don't care about having dealers or customers. WHY are you in business anyway?
To be honest the cable industry has a whole isn't fairing to good. I'm afraid that it's only going to get worst. As the economy gets worst. The customers usually drop the entertainment out of their budget.
Go head and type in Dish Network, Directv, Comcast, Time Warner, Cox , Multimedia , Charter Communications or any of the other cable companies. You will see all the same complaints against them. Just a different company name .

3/17/2011 I just got off the phone with DishNetwork, who referred me to Wild Blue their affiliate.

Regardless of the OLD information on Wikipedia, here are links to the most current.

This is an easy Google Search. I told Dish Network to take a flying leap when they would not provide the actual price and thought they should handcuff me to a 2 year contract. Which will NEVER HAPPEN. My lease on the apartment is only a year, I told them to retain me as as customer means give me good customer service at a good price.

The foreigner on the phone with me with the heavy accent from who knows where, I had trouble understanding her attempts at English. This is another major negative point for me, because when you need help, I don't want Punjab in India pretending his name is Bob trying to give me technical support from a cue card.

Hughes is not part of Echostar!

AUTHOR: Mattfast1 - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, October 27, 2007

Hughes.net is not a part of Echostar (the company that owns DISH Network). If you do some probing (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hughes_Network_Systems), you notice that "SkyTerra Communications, Inc. completed its purchase of 100% controlling interest in HNS from the DirecTV Group in January 2006 and completed an IPO of Hughes Communications in March 2006." So DirecTV (the other satellite provider for those playing along at home) was actually the one that used to own Hughes Network Services, the owner of Hughes.net.
