I set up an installation to be done on Wednesday Feb. 27 (the day I am writing this) between the hours of 12pm and 5pm. At about 3:30pm, I receive a voicemail from one of your representatives asking if we had seen the installer and if all had gone well; you know, the courtesy call. I called my wife at home and asked if the installer had finished and she told me, he had not arrived. I gave her the number to call that your rep had left on my voicemail. She called and got the following information: the installer had come by at 10:30am, reported back that there was no line of sight and left.

I have several problems with this. First, though my wife was home all day, the appointment was for between 12pm and 5pm. Second, the previous tenants whom we bought the home from had left their Dish Network Dish that they used while living here STILL ATTACHED TO THE ROOF AND CLEARLY VISIBLE FROM THE FRONT OF THE HOUSE! So, what does he mean no line of sight? Finally, he made absolutely no attempt to contact my wife who stayed home all day because she is supposed to be present during installation. Right?

We have been long time Dish Network customers, so we did the EASY? Dish mover option. Well, I called back the 1 888 number and talked to a rep who gave me the local rep in Chico. After speaking to one of her employees, the local rep was contact and she in turn contacted my wife. To the local rep's credit, she was very apologetic and promised to speak with the technician. She offered to send someone out tomorrow morning, but like most people, we have Monday through Friday jobs. Therefore, she offered Saturday morning. Saturday morning we are going to a funeral for one of my good colleagues.
Now it looks like I am the only one going and my wife has to wait for the installer between 8am-12pm.

Now I ask you. WHY SHOULD WE HAVE TO PUT OFF OUR PLANS, WAIT ANOTHER THREE DAYS WITHOUT TELEVISION (WHICH I BETTER NOT GET CHARGED FOR) WHEN WE HAD MADE A SCHEDULE AND WERE HOME WHILE YOUR EMPLOYEE DID EITHER ONE OF TWO THINGS: LIED OUTRIGHT ABOUT EVEN COMING OUT TO OUR HOUSE OR MERLEY DROVE BY AND ASSUMED WE HAD NO LINE OF SIGHT BECAUSE WE ARE IN A MODERATLY TREED AREA.

In my opinion, at the very least, your company should have sent someone immediately even if it meant paying some overtime. THAT IS JUST THE WAY TO DO GOOD BUSINESS AND STAND BEHIND A REPUTATION. Instead, we are paying the price without satellite for three more days because of your inept employee. I AM VERY DISSATISFIED AND WILL NOT BE RECOMMENDING YOUR SERVICE ANYTIME SOON.

the biggest problem your facing . is that dish network ( this goes for directv also ) will accept a dealer that does volume installs and service calls. dealers that do this will only pay an installer if they are lucky between 60.00 to 100.00 per install. thats for the dish and up to four tuners. on service calls they only get 30.00 and have to be willing to drive 50 miles one way. that 30.00 not only pays for service call . it also pays for the fuel to drive to the service call. the other problem is these types of dealer are required to take pictures. plus ground the system to your existing electrical service. the installer may have not gotten the line of sight required to aim the dish to the satellite from the electrical service. so the installer is going to do the jobs that get them in and out the fastest. you dont have to go to dish network for that promotion. any dealer can do the dish mover program. so call around next time and ask for refereneces. let the buyer beware. dish pays me between 300.00 to 500.00 on new customer installs. im only required to give a 6 month warranty on the installation. i give a one year and put it in writing. it doesnt hurt to shop around.
