A lady by the name of Jaime from Dish Network called my wife and said she wanted to take a "survey" of the Dish Network equipment installed in our home. We have four TVs connected to the Dish Network in our home.

So my wife went to the first TV in the kitchen, followed the instructions Jaime was giving her, supplying her with miscellaneous serial number and equipment data as it was showing on the TV screen.

After the first TV information was recorded, my wife proceeded to go to the basement to start the same process on the second TV location. However, when my wife got to the basement, and picked up the phone extension to talk to Jaime, Jaime got very irate and rude to my wife. Jaime started yelling at my wife for taking 1 minute and 42 seconds to walk from the kitchen to the basement, and that time was too long. So because of this "delay", Jaime stated that the Dish Network service to this TV and the two remaining TVs will be terminated immediately!

My wife, who is 73 years old, told Jaime she has a very bad arthritic knee, and it takes her a little longer to get down the flight of stairs to get to the basement TV. Jaime replied, "well, you should of told me that before, but it's too late now, I have already disconnected service to your 3 remaining TVs, and there is no way to reinstate them".

My wife could not believe what she was hearing. Just because it took her 1 minute 42 seconds to walk from the kitchen to the basement she lost 3 of the 4 TVs connected to her Dish Network service!

My wife asked Jaime if there was any way to reinstate service to the other TVs. Jaime's response was that the only way to start service again on those 3 TVs would be to create a new customer account, pay activation charges, and the kicker... our monthly bill would double, from $112/ month to $224/month!

The reason Jaime claimed the bill would double is that we would now have to maintain 2 customer accounts. One account for the TV in the kitchen, and another account for the remaining 3 TVs in other rooms. My wife asked why she couldn't just put all the service back on one account, and pay the same $112 she has been paying. Jaime offered no recourse, other than say that this was all my wife's fault since she took 1 minute and 42 seconds to walk to the basement.

Getting no help from Jaime, we hung up and dialed the main Dish Network customer service number. We told the representative our story, and they too found this story and actions from Jaime were absolutely incredulous. They agreed that what Jaime did was not correct, but the final insult...they said there was absolutely nothing they could do to fix the situation! The termination Jaime issued could not be fixed, and yes, we would be forced to pay the $224/month if we wanted service again on all 4 TVs.

This story may sound hard to believe. I even find it hard to believe and I was there sitting next to my wife listening on the speakerphone as she was talking to Jaime.

We have been a customer of Dish Network for over 5 years, always paid our bills on time, and never had any problems until now. We live in a single family home, and never, never have done anything to warrant this kind of treatment from some "trigger happy" customer service representative.

My only recourse would be to cancel my entire Dish Network service and go to another vendor, but the principal of the matter is that no one should be treated in this manner. Is this some kind of scam Dish Network is running to cheat retired, elderly people out of their hard saved money?

I also find it hard to believe that of the several people I talked to at Dish Network, no one was able to rectify the situation. They said the actions by Jaime, although not proper, were irreversible. I can't believe that the ill-advised actions from some rude customer service agent can not be reversed. In any billing system, there's always a way to correct an error that is made. It just seems that Dish Network is too stupid and/or too insensitive to correct their problem.

I have paid Dish Network literally thousand of dollars over the last few years in monthly payments. And now, Jaime in all her stupidity, is costing her company from continuing to earn that money and keep me as a customer. If I had done something so stupid in my job, I would certainly be fired, and I believe Jaime should definitely be fired for causing her company to lose a long term customer.
