When I agreed to switch from Direct TV (DTV) to Dish, I did so SPECIFICALLY in order to receive the Los Angeles Angels baseball season at a lower total cost than with DTV.

Recently, we found out that Dish Management has elected to NOT provide about 50 games, which amounts to about 30% of the 2012 Angels' season.  To me, this is a SERIOUS BREACH of the contract on their part, but Dish Management thinks not.

If fact, their representative, Brian Dansby of "Executive Communications" seems to think that even if Dish elected to cut the number of channels provided, to half of what was being provided at the time of signup, Dish would still be in compliance with the contract and would expect the subscriber to continue paying the same amount for the reduced service through the contract term.

In other words, Dish Management seems to think they have full rights to advertise one thing, get a consumers commitment to a multi-year contract, then switch the service provided to whatever they want to, in order to suit THEIR desires.

I thought that sort of behavior was called BAIT AND SWITCH, but I guess the Dish management and their legal beagles hold a different opinion.

I won't even go through all the denials and arguments I had with Dish Support Reps.  Not even quotes from the Angels' website describing the issue in detail as being a Dish decision could get through their thick skulls/lack of common sense.

It wasn't until I finally found a way to contact Dish Corporate Offices by email that I received any response.  That resulted in Dansby finally admitting what was going on while blatantly indicating to me: tough bananas Mr Subscriber, we can do anything we want to but you're STILL ON THE HOOK for YOUR end of the contract.

STAY AWAY from Dish Network - they'll screw you over if it helps their pocket book.

UPDATE 2013-04-02

AUTHOR: JimB - ()

POSTED: Tuesday, April 02, 2013

Back with DTV, DISH sent the early termnation fee to collection - I couldn't care less.

This year's Angels Baseball schedule contians the same disclaimer about AT&T & Dish that they added last year about those twocarriers not paying for al lthe games available.  That's what frosted by bitt som badly about the whole Dish response.  THEY KNEW they werenot going ot provide the same amountof programming that DTV was, but chose not to disclose that fact.  NEVER, EVER will deal with Dish again, even if DTV takes the same track.  The response from Michael at Dish above is just typical BBS (Bureaucratic Bull Snuff) that emplyees and managers hide behind thousands of times each and every day to justify not doingthe RIGHT thing.

Baseball games

AUTHOR: MikeH_Dish - (USA)

POSTED: Tuesday, November 27, 2012

I do understand youre not happy with DISH right now due to not getting the Los Angeles Angels baseball games. We strive to provide all of our customers with the programming they want; sports, reality TV, news, as well as movie channels and locals.

There are times when a Network decides to negotiate their prices with DISH and we work very hard to not have any service interruptions. If we cannot come to an agreement before the deadline the network will block DISH from carrying the channel.

If you would like to discuss this further please respond to this message and I will be more than happy to assist you with and DISH or programming questions you may have.

Dish Dish Disposal

AUTHOR: JimB - (United States of America)

POSTED: Monday, November 26, 2012

Dish, unlike Direct, in their "Equipment Return Instructions"  included the LNB module in the "required" list.  The physical dish went into the local recyle-landfill system.

Paid vs OTA Programming

AUTHOR: JimB - (United States of America)

POSTED: Friday, May 04, 2012

TO:Karl - Highlands Ranch (USA)

THX for the lesson in how to reduce my exposure to TV programming and costs associated with doing that.

You are welcome to your opinions, but (a) I find little on PBS that interests me, and much of the domestically produced programming is very biased towards the LEFT of the political spectrum. (b) while I respect YOUR choice, I have my own desires and should be able to fulfill them as well and (c) I went that OTA route awhile back and found it unsatisfactory and now it is only the backup for paid service.

Your posts add NOTHING to the discussion regarding the Bait and Switch policies of Dish Networks, LLC and are particularly not worthy of being posted TWICE.

DISH POEM

AUTHOR: Karl - (USA)

POSTED: Thursday, May 03, 2012

DISH POEM

Throw your dish away
Cancel cable too
Filthy television
Makes you feel blue
No one needs a dish
Time to cancel cable
Contact all your friends
Text Billy and aunt Mabel
Time to end this poem
Tonight we're having fish
Pizza pie tomorrow
Throw away your dish!

End.

Nobody needs to have a dish or cable. Cancel your cable and your satellite TV now and simply get an antenna and watch the free channels that are available.

There are several PBS Stations available that are much more educational and informative, including many News Stations, like NewsHour, BBC News, RT News, Al Jazeera, Nightly Business Report,  Bill Moyers Journal, and others.

Thank You
