I moved into a new house in January 2008 and set-up online to have Dish Netork installed in my house. I was to receive a two DVR system and a third receiver in a spare room. Additionally, I was suppose to receive three months of HBO and Cinemax for free. On my first bill, everything was fine, but when I received my second bill, there was a $20.00 charge for a partial month of HBO and Cinimax in February, and a $39.29 for the month of March. I immediately called Dish Networks customer service line when I saw the charges and was told that they charges would be credited back to my account. I also told they representative to cancel the HBO and Cinemax, because I wasn't planning to pay for it, I just wanted my three free months, and the service was cancelled. When I received my bill for April...low-and-behold another charge for the $59.29 and on top of it, a late fee for $5.00 because my account was now past due. I called again on 4/11/2008 and informed Dish Network of the inaccurate charge and was told that I was eligible for the three free months of service at the time of installation, but because it was actually turned on the next day, I was responsible for payment. I informed the representative that my installation order showed that I was suppose to receive the three free months of service. I then asked to speak with a supevisor to whom I explained the situation. He was extremely rude and condescending. He told me that because the HBO and Cinemax service was actually turned on on 1/24/2008 instead of 1/23/2008, the date of the installation, that I was responsible for the charges. I informed him that I had the original installation order that showed I was suppose to receive the three free months, and he told me that I was a liar at which point, I hung up on him. To date, I have made 6 telephone calls to get this resolved. Every time I call, I get a different story or reason as to why they can't resolve this issue. The last thing I was told is that the system was updating itself, and they couldn't credit my account right now. So, another telephone call, and I am sure another excuse as to why they, Dish Network, can't resolve a billing error that is their fault. I guess the old saying is true, "nothing truely is for free." Buyers beware of the Dish Network offer for "three free months of HBO and Cinemax" with installation of a new satellite system. Do yourself a favor and get DirectTV.
